Profit/Loss Statement

General Strategy Info: The above profit/loss info represents trades by M.A. Perry (a.k.a. NihabaAshi) only and all trades were posted in realtime as shown in the below chat log.

Although I'm not familiar with the trade methods used by most members of #FuturesTrades, I use a rule based (no subjectivity) methodology that involves WRB Analysis.

There is some subjectivity involved with some of my trades when I'm developing a new strategy (hence the name TheStrategyLab.com) that uses WRB Analysis.

In fact, many of my trades or profit targets will occur within key WRB support/resistance zones because these price areas gives me a better understanding of key changes in supply demand.

Traditional pivot point analysis or traditional s/r levels are inadequate in understanding changes in supply/demand of the Russell 2000 Emini ER2 or any other trading instrument of today's markets in comparison to WRB Analysis.

WRB Analysis is also a key aspect in my use of intermarket analysis (ex. Oil and Gold), market seasonal tendencies, volatility analysis and custom Japanese Candlestick patterns to complete my trading plan that results in consistent profits.

Further, position size management is a key aspect of my trading and I trade any where between 1 to 9 contracts per trade depending upon the volatility, pattern signal, seasonal tendencies or intuition.

All of my trades and commentary for today's market action (posted below) are via the user name NihabaAshi (Japanese Candlestick term) and I exclusively trade the Russell 2000 Emini ER2 futures even though I closely monitor other key markets so that I'll have a better understanding of ER2 price action.

With that said, today's trade posting chat log is below and it contains all my trades that were posted in realtime along with the trades of other members of #FuturesTrades.

<silo2> hey Niha... i noticed you focus mainly on ER2 now.... is there a particular reason? or do you just like the volatility and that you think the ticks and the way and how fast it moves fits your style of trading?
<KiwiRoo>  Long ES @ 90.00

<NihabaAshi>  Reminder -> First of all, I don't do any mentoring even though I myself was mentored. However, if anyone is looking for mentor...please read the following discussion to prevent problems @ http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread .php?s=&postid=170447511:08

That's for those that are considering to be mentored or thinking about doing mentoring.11:09
<silo2> niha was mentored?11:11
who is the master yoda's master?
<NihabaAshi> Yeah, because I didn't realize there was more important things than pattern signals.11:12
<KiwiRoo> Symmetry triangle on ES.. FYI.
<NihabaAshi> Needed to learn what else was involved in profitable trading.
<szubaark>  Buys ES @ 1491.75 «« paper »» 11:13
<KiwiRoo> broken.. but too many resistance up top.
<NihabaAshi> Wasn't a big deal considering I've been mentored (coaches and trainers) when I competed in sports et cetera.
I just needed someone to help me traverse what I learned from sports and the military into my trading.11:14
That person helped me do that.
<startrader>  Long ES @ 1491.50 «« paper »» 11:15
<silo2> what area of sports were you in niha?>
<NihabaAshi> That's personal and reveals too much about my personal life.

Regardless, there's strong links between succeeding in sports and excelling in the military with trading.11:17

Once I connected the dots (only dots I had sort'uv speak)...my trading improved.

That's why I'm a strong believer that our personal lives has a strong impact on our trading.11:18

Thus, if someone is the type to lack discipline in their personal life...

Good chance it will carry over into their trading.
<silo2> oh definetly
<szubaark> :)
<pat255> v true N11:19
<silo2> need a strong will, determination, and self discipline
<szubaark> trading will expose every flaw that one has.
<silo2> i was pretty into sports too

3rd place in my state's track meet :)
<NihabaAshi> szu...absolutely correct.
Any weakness we have...trading will find it :(11:20
<silo2> 1/3 if not 1/2 of trading is psychological
<startrader>  Exited 3/4 ES Long @ 1492 --> + 1.25 «« paper »»
<szubaark> yeah but u also need good entries, exits11:21

<startrader>  Exited Remainder ES Long @ 1491 --> - 0.5 «« paper »»
<NihabaAshi> However, everybody is a little different in that reaction to certain situations in trading will be different.11:22

Any weakness we have all we can do is learn to recognize them, control them and maybe even eliminate them (not likely).
<szubaark> Screen Time is King.11:23
<NihabaAshi> Most good traders just learn to "control" their weakness...manage them sort'uv speak.
<startrader>  Long ES @ 1492 «« paper »»
<silo2> yeah the hardest part of trading is being able to not deviate from your own trading plan11:24

that's why most traders fail

[11:28] <Trader22> NihabaAshi: what wuld u say to someone like like
<Trader22> yes, was curious / as you seem like me to be into the zen of trading11:40

that the mental/emotioinal is important
<NihabaAshi> I'm a strong believer that if you have a method that's completed...you shouldn't be paper trading.11:41
<Trader22> but for her, I simply never found advice that helped
<NihabaAshi> Paper trading is only for those that are using a new trading execution platform or for those that are still in the process of developing their trading plan.
<Trader22> no what happens is she'll do some real trades, lose, then lose confidence and for a day or two go back to paper trading;be right with paper; go back to real and lose
<NihabaAshi> Thus, once you develop your trading plan or become comfortable in using a new trading software...11:42
Stop paper trading.
<silo2> 'cuz then you have to practice real trading

'cuz that actually involves greed and fear
<NihabaAshi> Those that continue paper trading beyond that risk developing what I call "reaction lag".
<silo2> 'cuz real money in on the line..
<Trader22> nods, good point/thanks11:43
<silo2> and you have to develope the strength and proper discipline to manage the greed and fear
<Trader22> 13,500 dow print
<NihabaAshi> Yep...real money on the line suddenly has a new face in comparison to paper trading.

Same method is being used but your reaction skills are much different.
<szubaark>  Shorts ES @ 1494 «« paper »»
<silo2> like if you are only down 100 bucks.... you shrug it off 'cuz if the market goes up a little then you're back in business... but that's HOPE11:44
<NihabaAshi> Best thing for her is to trade small as possible or only paper trade during her most problematic time spans.
<silo2> if the market doesn't go back up... then your small loss will become a big loss
<Trader22> for her, it's all about her self confidence
<NihabaAshi> For example, if she's profitable in the morning but losses all her profits in the afternoon...
<silo2> and then you have to think should i get out now .. i mean it's already dropped so much... maybe i'll hold a little bit more
<NihabaAshi> She should only trade with real money in the morning and reduce her position size in the afternoon, paper trade or don't trade at all in the afternoon.11:45
<silo2> or at least ease back on the number of contracts... by reducing them11:46
<Trader22> not a time of day thing for her, not like she's making in am and losing in pm; another friend had that problem, but that was fixable

thanks for the input
<silo2> then it's alll psychological then
<NihabaAshi> Traders with "confidence" issues has other things going on that's outside of trading.
<Trader22> umm, how so
I believe for some self-confidence is very important unless they are 100% T/A trader
<silo2> it's simple GREED FEAR and HOPE
<NihabaAshi> I don't know her personally...everbody is different.
<silo2> she just needs to trade the system. apply the proper management... and not get affected by the amrket11:47

trade to trade... not trade to big money

'cuz if you're just thinking about making money... you will deviate from your game plan

<silo2> holding on to something that you shouldn't have... or extending your stay
<NihabaAshi> I "GUARANTEE" there's something in her personal life that's sabotaging her trading whenever I here that someone has a "confidence" issue.
Especially when the do well in paper trading (no risk) in comparison to real money trading (risk).11:48
<silo2> it imght not be that.... it's just that majority of the peole need a time to realize how t hey are sabotaging t heir own system
<Nesi> any idea of what kind of problem it may be.. Niha ?
<silo2> by letting their emotions get in the way

that's why most traders lose money and give up11:49
<NihabaAshi> Nesi...I don't know her.
For example...
<silo2> 'cuz it's human nature for us to get greedy, to hope, to fear

it's once we have conquer those attributes do traders start to see progress

'cuz then when you look at your report, you're looking at the result from your system

not a mix result from your system AND your emotions11:50
<NihabaAshi> All of my losing trading days the past 7 years occurred within a week after a "traumatic" event in my personal life.
