#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

[09:27:59] <drt> gm all
[09:28:07] <Time4now> gm
[09:30:25] <@wrbtrader> Thus should be peak volatility. Instead, I see once again the 1 - 2 contract trades controlling the price direction
[09:33:19] <+drt> vacation time in eu, some crisis would be nice..
[09:33:36] <Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100809-5amz-53kb
[09:33:55] <+Inertia> 2x 1 unit only
[09:35:55] <+Inertia> good morning btw
[09:39:04] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 652.20 -> small size
[09:39:15] <@wrbtrader> 3 only
[09:39:22] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[09:44:52] <pat255> gm
[09:45:34] <@wrbtrader> Covered 2/3 TF Short @ 650.90 --> + 1.3
[09:46:04] <+pat255> vn
[09:46:12] <+pat255> @office today
[09:47:12] <@wrbtrader> Covered Remainder TF Short @ 651.90 --> + 0.3
[09:57:32] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100809-huhi-60kb
[09:57:46] <rickf> was going live on TF today but given i did not sleep well last night i shall remain in the sandbox
[09:57:59] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 651.50 -> small size
[09:58:04] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[09:58:10] <@wrbtrader> rickf...good decision
[09:58:18] <+rickf> ;)
[09:58:42] <@wrbtrader> Never underestimate the "lack of sleep" because it does impact our trade decisions.
[09:59:02] <+pat255> v trye
[09:59:10] <+rickf> oh hells yes
[09:59:28] <+rickf> i don't trade under the influence of anything but caffeine
[09:59:33] <+rickf> that includes lack-of-sleep :)
[10:03:17] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. Also, mimicking the trades by others is not recommended. More info about the chat room @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum
[10:08:01] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 651.60 --> + 0.1
[10:08:05] <@wrbtrader> :(
[10:08:15] <@wrbtrader> no more patience on that trade
[10:09:22] <@wrbtrader> geeesh...now it moves higher after I dumped it early due to losing my patience
[10:09:23] <@wrbtrader> :(
[10:20:01] <+Time4now> I'm starting to see interesting correlation between vxx and tf
[10:20:52] <+Time4now> not at that moment, but in general
[10:25:17] <@wrbtrader> I just wish there was a VXX like for the DAX, FTSE and CAC40
[10:25:30] <@wrbtrader> I'm sure there must be but I don't have access
[10:25:55] <@wrbtrader> Always good to look at such to determine if the markets are in a low volatility, normal or high volatility environment.
[10:25:58] <+Time4now> then you'd pick those over tf?
[10:26:22] <@wrbtrader> Helps to use the VXX to keep out of tight trading ranges because if the VXX is in a tight trading range...
[10:26:29] <@wrbtrader> The Eminis aren't going anywere
[10:26:44] <+Time4now> yeah, it could shift also
[10:27:50] <@wrbtrader> Regardless...my main use of the VXX is as a "position size management" tool
[10:28:16] <@wrbtrader> If it's low...my contract size is small. If its high or rising...my contract size is above normal
[10:28:44] <+Time4now> i see
[10:46:08] <+pat255> u guys refer to vix OR vxx?
[10:46:57] <+pat255> vix i can get on Ib but vxx cant..
[10:47:18] <@wrbtrader> Can you get SPY on IB ?
[10:47:23] <+pat255> y
[10:47:38] <@wrbtrader> VXX is an exchange traded fund just like SPY
[10:47:52] <+pat255> k ty N
[10:47:54] <@wrbtrader> Try typing it as similar instead of as an index
[10:48:17] <+pat255> got it ..thks thot it was index
[10:50:46] <+pat255> it is -ve today ...N do u use it to give direction to the mkt or just to control size?
[10:51:01] <@wrbtrader> control size
[10:51:07] <+pat255> k thks
[11:18:13] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100809-yooa-175kb
[11:22:06] <+rickf> short tf 654.7 paper
[11:23:35] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100809-wxwi-48kb
[11:23:55] <+Inertia> the above is from earlier but i was busy losing in TF so could not post
[11:26:13] <+rickf> exit tf 654.3 +.4 paper
[11:26:31] <+rickf> still looking lower but cant'f focus :(
[11:26:38] <+rickf> back later
[11:29:08] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [12:40:18] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 655.30 -> small size
[12:40:22] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[12:54:48] <@wrbtrader> Hmmm...another trade that's testing the limits of my patience
[12:57:15] <@wrbtrader> soon it will be lunch that will be the deciding factor in this trade management because I'm hungry :)
[13:00:44] <+Time4now> I thought my charts had stopped working, but it was just the market
[13:00:56] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [13:04:12] <@wrbtrader> small intervals on very low volatility...trying hard to creep higher
[13:04:31] <@wrbtrader> something has got to give soon (good or bad) for this trade
[13:05:12] <@wrbtrader> The missed entry @ 654.90 is haunting me now :(
[13:19:10] <@wrbtrader> Exited 1/2 TF Long @ 656.30 --> + 1
[13:19:50] <@wrbtrader> exit stop raised TF @ 655.40
[13:20:10] <@wrbtrader> be back later...going to lunch...will post a late trade result if my stop is hit while I'm gone.
[13:20:17] * wrbtrader is now known as wrbtrader_away
[13:58:45] * wrbtrader_away is now known as wrbtrader
[13:58:52] <@wrbtrader> late post
[13:59:05] <@wrbtrader> Trailing Stop Hit TF @ 655.40 --> + 0.1
[13:59:45] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 655.80 -> small size
[13:59:49] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[13:59:51] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[14:13:34] <+rickf> ugh ... wake up from 2 hour nap and only 800K ES have moved. I should go back to sleep
[14:14:07] <+Time4now> It's been pretty shallow lately
[14:14:14] <+rickf> pre-fed day today

[14:36:11] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 657.40 --> + 1.6
[15:03:49] <Rich> very quiet
[15:03:59] <@wrbtrader> Vacation time
[15:04:20] <@wrbtrader> = low volume and low volatility
[15:04:29] <+Rich> yeah
[15:04:51] <+Rich> but even for this time of the year it is unusally quiet
[15:05:44] <+rickf> >> 2:15pm] rickf: pre-fed day today
[15:05:49] <+rickf> plus vacation and everything else
[15:06:01] <@wrbtrader> I've been seeing more "eye in the storm" type of market commentaries all over the internet
[15:06:39] <@wrbtrader> Yep...tomorrow is FOMC Announcement day
[15:07:01] <+Rich> you guys trade mainly equities, right?
[15:07:06] <+Rich> i mean index futures...
[15:07:23] <+Rich> any particular expectations
[15:07:24] <+Rich> ?
[15:07:41] <@wrbtrader> There's a few option traders in here but they mainly only post their futures trades
[15:07:42] <+Rich> on the bond side some form of QE seems to be priced in...
[15:08:40] <+Rich> a third dimension would just be too much for my little brain
[15:09:55] <@wrbtrader> Rich...what's the QE symbol (FED Funds Rate) ?
[15:10:42] <+rickf> i do index and equity options at times too .. mostly to hedge my long-only portfolio but some speculation
[15:10:49] <+Rich> not sure what you mean mark?
[15:10:59] <+Rich> i ment quant easing tomorrow
[15:11:26] <+Rich> longer term i assume rickf?
[15:11:33] <@wrbtrader> You posted QE and usually that's a symbol (depending on the broker) for the FED Funds Rate (e.g. ES for the Emini ES)
[15:12:00] <+rickf> hedging? yes. speculation? no
[15:12:15] <+rickf> want to try futures options but never get filled on them :(
[15:12:20] <@wrbtrader> Ok...quant easing
[15:13:01] <+Rich> sorry mark... coming from the bond environment normally everybody immediatly these days knows
[15:13:32] <+Rich> obviously not such a big deal for index futures...
[15:15:11] <+Rich> apologise for highjacking your forum, but i normally do not trade at these hours
[15:16:17] <@wrbtrader> We should see more "big gaps" (up or down) at the open on regular session charts for the remainder of the week.
[15:16:37] <@wrbtrader> There's a lot of FED info this week
[15:17:29] <@wrbtrader> Hopefully that doesn't mean the market will make it's best moves as GAPs and leave the remainder of the trading day between 0930am - 4:15pm est tough to trade.
[15:18:40] <@wrbtrader> Reminider: I'll be on a semi-vacation from August 16th - 31st.
[15:18:57] <+rickf> speaking of being away ...
[15:19:25] <@wrbtrader> will do very little trading during that period
[15:19:26] <+rickf> i should announce my trading will be limited going forward, as i have landed a nice university faculty gig
[15:19:42] <+rickf> only trading on days when not in the office
[15:19:46] <@wrbtrader> congrats :)
[15:19:50] <+rickf> ty
[15:20:12] <+Rich> which university do you work for rick?
[15:20:16] <@wrbtrader> will you be relocating as in moving ?
[15:20:18] <+rickf> just in case you don't see me around 'regularly'
[15:20:23] <+rickf> nope, staying put
[15:20:39] <+rickf> rich - won't say publicly until i get the hard-copy offer letter

-------------------------

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods and different perspective of the markets. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. More information about #FuturesTrades @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/FuturesTradesChatRoom.htm

Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
