#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Further, although our chat room is smaller than the other popular chat rooms...we are the most active chat room in posting trades or market commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies in comparison to other free chat rooms.

#FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a real time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

In addition, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets to help keep the chat room diversified...posting trades or market commentaries. Also, if you're looking for real-time education in the chat room involving price action only trading (profitably trading without indicators)...you need to contact us to schedule price action only trading real-time discussions. We'll then have one on one (private) real-time price action only trading discussions with you while you're using #FuturesTrades real-time chat room to prevent distractions in the chat room with other members that are using different trading methods in comparison to us. However, you must first download and learn our free study guide at a different forum @ TSL Support Forum * http://www.thestrategylab.com/tsl/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

With that said, thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and we highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trade information not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books if you're not interested in scheduling one on one (private) real-time price action only trading education discussions. To gain access to #FuturesTrades chat room...please follow the instructions @ FTCHAT Support Forum * http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

Session Start: Wed Dec 01 07:39:24 2010
Session Ident: #FuturesTrades
[07:39:24] * Now talking in #FuturesTrades
[07:39:25] <@X> [NihabaAshi] chat room archives @ viewforum.php?f=20
[08:38:11] <@wrbtrader> Another big upgap via the overnight trading session
[08:52:24] <@X> #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for traders of Emini Futures (EMD, TF, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (6E, EC), Eurex/Euronext Futures (DAX, ESTX50, FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM), Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, XLE, QQQQ, SPY) and Forex Currencies
[09:11:58] <werner> gm all
[09:15:33] <Sidhartha> gm all
[09:16:24] <+Sidhartha> anyone get a notice that those scumbags at ICE are starting to charge $70 a month from Jan 2011 for futures data (i.e. TF in my case)....
[09:20:33] <Time4now> gm
[09:25:14] <@wrbtrader> Sidthartha, I have not and I trade TF.
[09:25:31] <LP> gm
[09:25:41] <@wrbtrader> Thus, I have not gotten a notice from my brokers nor my chart vendor about any new fees associated with TF data
[09:26:12] <+Sidhartha> ok. i don't know how you get charged... but I had an e-mail from IQ Feed last night and spoke to them today... they told me it's a fee starting to be levied by ICE to all data providers...
[09:26:23] <+Sidhartha> so I assume you will be getting an e-mail very soon
[09:26:59] <@wrbtrader> Usually when fees change...most data vendors or brokers send out notices about 2 - 3 months in advance
[09:27:16] <+Sidhartha> ICE seem to be going to opposite way to CME who seem to be giving data away these days in order to get more people trading
[09:27:31] <@wrbtrader> Also, some brokers or chart vendors will "absorb" the new fees without passing it on to their clients.
[09:28:01] <+Sidhartha> some... if you do enough volume... yes
[09:28:36] <+Sidhartha> $70 a monht for basically one useful data feed (TF) is daylight robbery
[09:28:51] <@wrbtrader> Agree...it will also KILL the Emini TF
[09:28:54] <drt> gm
[09:29:08] <+Sidhartha> i also don't understand why they don't charge smaller retail less than the 'pros'... i.e. hedge funds etc...
[09:29:46] <+Sidhartha> wrbtrader... I'll forward you the e-mail I got from IQ feed...
[09:30:57] <@wrbtrader> Thanks
[09:31:20] <@wrbtrader> I'll be calling my brokers and chart vendors today to find out more info on this.
[09:32:10] <@wrbtrader> If they say their going to charge me more...I'll STOP trading the emini TF and stop subscribing to ICE.
[09:32:44] <+Sidhartha> and trade what instead...?
[09:32:46] <Tigerman> HI all
[09:32:49] <@wrbtrader> I'll temporarily move back to the Emini ES or trade Light Crude Oil CL assuming CL is not traded on ICE :)
[09:33:02] <+Tigerman> Long TF @ 741.6
[09:34:25] <+Tigerman> Exited all TF Long @ 741.8 --> + 0.2
[09:37:08] <+Tigerman> uptrend intact
[09:38:31] <@wrbtrader> This gap is HUGE via the fact it's jumped above other prior gaps
[09:39:18] <+Tigerman> is huge for sure like economic-news and big debt turmoil
[09:41:12] <+werner> tf new year high...
[09:41:54] <@wrbtrader> Markets are so globally connected...with all the crap going on recently...
[09:42:11] <+werner> yes indd
[09:42:11] <@wrbtrader> I'm surprise this thing just keeps going higher...mainly in the overnight trading sessions.
[09:42:29] <@wrbtrader> Almost as if it's all being "manipulated".
[09:43:09] <+Time4now> insert dramatic chipmunk
[09:43:12] <@wrbtrader> Regardless...even "manipulation" can be exploited via just trading the price action instead of our opinions.
[09:43:36] <+Tigerman> of course
[09:46:00] <+Tigerman> we continue this strong uptrend started this morning in EU or after midnight in US

[10:06:06] <+werner> Shorts NQ @ 2163.00
[10:07:40] <+Time4now> sometimes these big opening gaps lead to lingering price action
[10:08:13] <+Tigerman> Shorts ES @ 1200
[10:09:34] <+Tigerman> Covered 1/3 ES Short @ 1199.5 --> + 0.5
[10:11:32] <+Tigerman> Covered 1/3 ES Short @ 1199.25 --> + 0.75
[10:12:01] <@wrbtrader> Not much happening so far on "low volatility" after the big gap on the open
[10:12:15] <+Tigerman> 1 ct remainder
[10:12:34] <+Tigerman> yep after big gaps is hard to trade
[10:13:37] <+werner> Covered all NQ Short @ 2161.00 --> + 2
[10:13:38] <+Tigerman> Covered Remainder ES Short @ 1199 --> + 1

[10:23:03] <+werner> Covered all NQ Short @ 2160.00 --> + 1.75
[10:23:20] <@wrbtrader> Geeesh...the 10am est economic news didn't shake things up
[10:23:55] <@wrbtrader> Hopefully the 1030am est EIA Petroleum Status report will bring in some volatility instead of waiting for the 2pm est FED Beige Book release
[10:28:16] <+LP> 740 - 742.50 chop zone on tf, i'm down 2 from trying the breakout
[10:31:35] <+LP> beige book at 2pm

[11:26:27] <@wrbtrader> Huge gap up at the open and now crappy low volatility price action
[11:27:00] <@wrbtrader> 2010 will go down on record as my "most boring" trading year...
[11:27:16] <+werner> :(
[11:27:33] <+Sidhartha> because of the constant overnight gaps...?
[11:27:42] <@wrbtrader> That requires a ton of patience to prevent trading a lot of price action not worth trading.
[11:29:33] <+werner> Shorts NQ @ 2164.75
[11:30:07] <@wrbtrader> Sid...yes...these big overnight gaps is a major reason why we have less day trading opportunities during the regular trading session.

[13:25:21] <+codehead> it's all messed up, doesn't work right
[13:25:50] <+codehead> really aggravating, especially cuz i knew i wanted it real at one point, but was messing with the sim
[13:26:07] <+codehead> it wouldn't even take profit, had ot find a way to close the trade
[13:26:38] <+werner> :(
[13:26:56] <+codehead> showed the limit order to cover on chart, price went right thru it, order sat there
[13:27:05] <+codehead> and any other order got rejected
[13:27:15] <+codehead> now, they call me and wonder why i'm not trading their account
[13:27:17] <+codehead> sheesh
[13:27:23] <+codehead> awful software
[13:27:51] <+codehead> i guess they want you to pay for the premium 3rd party software and not make their free platform work right
[13:27:52] <+werner> ?? software
[13:28:15] <+codehead> well, i use esignal, so i really only need a good platform for order-placing
[13:28:46] <+codehead> so i don't want to may for the 3rd party stuff
[13:28:54] <+codehead> but their software sucks
[13:29:08] <+werner> mm ok wy not integrate it like ts
[13:29:30] <+codehead> they tried to talk me into using their ability to trade form within esignal, but their broker plug-in is buggy as hell
[13:29:45] <+codehead> it just does not work, not even close
[13:30:05] <+werner> :(
[13:31:23] <+codehead> what do you use werner?

[13:35:42] <+codehead> i don't like the programming language
[13:35:50] <+codehead> tho i hear they are coming out with a new one
[13:36:23] <+codehead> beige book in a bit
[13:36:31] <+werner> ok tx
[13:38:23] <+werner> brb
[13:41:46] <+codehead> omg, the stupid sim software, after i finally did a "close positions" to get out of it, shows the cover at the same price as entry
[13:42:33] <+codehead> despite the trade being up 4 pt, and we havent' been within 2 pt of the entry still
[13:42:42] <+codehead> does anyone test their stuff?
[13:45:56] <+codehead> oil new hod

[14:39:58] <@wrbtrader> I know how this works...
[14:40:10] <+werner> :)
[14:40:12] <@wrbtrader> The market does very little after a big gap at the open...
[14:40:25] <@wrbtrader> I stare at the monitor all day until I get completely bored...
[14:40:28] <+werner> :) :)
[14:40:53] <@wrbtrader> I then call it quits or go do something personal to only find out later the market made a big move while I was gone :(
[14:42:04] <+werner> indd ...and when stay sit at the screen it never moves :(
[14:43:55] <+werner> i went too see the ponies ...very colt here

[15:19:58] <+werner> Long NQ @ 2166.25
[15:21:10] <+codehead> i've been trading mostly with IB, but was talking about PFG (broker), and trying ot use their esignal plug-in
[15:22:33] <+codehead> i prefer trading from a dom, but IB added a confirmation layer, obviously for patent considerations
[15:22:37] <+codehead> and that sucks
[15:22:51] <+codehead> pfg has free software, but their dom is goofy
[15:23:20] <+codehead> so was trying to trade from charts, but it's totally messed up
[15:29:35] <+werner> Exited all NQ Long @ 2165.50 --> - 0.75
[15:30:30] <+werner> Shorts NQ @ 2165.25

[16:11:19] <@wrbtrader> I didn't miss much...I don't feel guilty about going out to do personal stuff
[16:11:41] <@wrbtrader> Hi cwj
[16:12:44] <+cwj> after 12:15 was some relative "chop" in ES
[16:13:03] <@wrbtrader> chop on low volatility
[16:13:17] <@wrbtrader> kills the appearance of any intraday trade opportunities
[16:15:16] <+cwj> was way too distracted to trade around some core positions in both ZB and ZN, but there was quite the opportunity on a 123-00 break
[16:16:12] <@wrbtrader> cwj...do you also monitor or trade the Eurex BUND ???
[16:16:26] <@X> #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for traders of Emini Futures (EMD, TF, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (6E, EC), Eurex/Euronext Futures (DAX, ESTX50, FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM), Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, XLE, QQQQ, SPY) and Forex Currencies
[16:17:01] <+cwj> not lately, i've been trading the US/UK gilt future spread mostly
[16:17:40] <+cwj> my hands have been quite full just trying to manage US and to some extent UK.. I keep only a cursory view of GER just b/c of what's going on
[16:17:51] <@wrbtrader> I've met more "spread traders" in 2010 than I have in the past 5 years combined.
[16:18:07] <@wrbtrader> Must be all that global stuff :)
[16:19:02] <+cwj> well when i left the room, i went off to work at Bear.. I moved into the bond floor there after a few more years.. then "wham" lol
[16:19:12] <+cwj> been doing spreads since ~ 2006
[16:20:06] <@wrbtrader> What's your recommend account size (minimum) for doing the type of spreads that you do ???
[16:20:26] <+cwj> bare minimum in futs, 50k
[16:21:07] <+cwj> let's say you're anticipating the 10/30Y cash curve to widen and you want to replicate it in futures
[16:21:19] <@wrbtrader> Ok...I've been seeing numbers anywhere between 50k - 100k
[16:21:47] <+cwj> 1 spread unit is 5:3, so long 5 ZN, short 3 ZB
[16:22:20] <+Sidhartha> Codehead... sorry I just came back
[16:22:36] <+Sidhartha> I use IB with the ZeroLine Trader DOM... I think it's pretty good.
[16:23:16] <+cwj> historically it has been a relatively low volatility trade, ideal for swings.. but today... you could easily scalp it intraday
[16:23:37] <@wrbtrader> You "mainluy" swinging the spreads or day trading them ???
[16:24:30] <+cwj> swing now.. and trade around the core position
[16:24:49] <@wrbtrader> ok
[16:25:52] <+cwj> 2005-08 all you could do was swing, now ... in certain pairs you can get away with intraday trading just because of everything that's going on... so i had to adjust my "window" to a much shorter timeframe
[16:26:39] <+cwj> ZN vs. ZT is a good one, also ZF vs. ZN,ZB due to the Fed activity in 5-10Y
[16:41:48] <@wrbtrader> I watch ZN, ZF and ZB everyday to help give me that big picture while I am trading Emini TF futures
[16:42:12] <@wrbtrader> I also watch Oil futures, Gold futures and U.S. Dollar
[16:43:01] <@wrbtrader> Without them, I think I would "overtrade" every trading day or get caught off guard via sudden swings
[16:53:19] <@wrbtrader> Take care all...I have personal appointments tomorrow. Thus, I won't be trading until the late afternoon.
[16:53:49] <@wrbtrader> cwj...thanks on the info about your spread trading.
[16:54:17] <@wrbtrader> I'll upload today's log to the major search engines and hopefully it attracts more spread traders in here.

[17:07:31] <+cwj> sure thing... i'll see you
[17:08:04] <+cwj> was wrapping up my end of day stuff.. i'll post in more and share if you wish

-------------------------

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own trade signal methods, different perspective of the markets and different experience levels. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different trade signal methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisements for guest visitors.

Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or price action only trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
