August 21st Fri - The CME Group is actually a combined company involving the CME and CBOT. Recently, in 2008, it purchased NYMEX. That's a lot of power under one trading group in the futures market.

August19th Weds - The IMF moves the global markets just like the Federal Reserve. Traders that ignore key events involving the IMF will be several steps behind the markets. By the way, IMF is also known as the International Monetary Fund.

August 17th Mon - I'm not surprised to learn that today it's China and Japan as the largest foreign holders of U.S. treasury securities. However, I didn't know it was the financing of World War I that gave birth to $21.5 billion in Liberty Bonds.

August 12th Weds - A lot of new traders today know very little about the dotcom bubble trading days and don't know that when the bubble popped it wiped out $5 trillion dollars in market value of technology stocks along with cleaning house of most dotcom stocks (bubble popped in March 2000 and not in 2001 as most websites state).

Aug 7th Fri - A lot of investors and traders do not understand what naked short selling is or whom mainly does it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_short_selling

Aug 5th Weds - Did you know that General Electric is the only stock remaining from the original 12 components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) that was compiled in 1896?

Aug 3rd Mon - Often on trading days where there's a key economic report being release you'll hear a particular type of recession shape discussions. Also, lately I've been hearing more jobless recovery talks.

Jul 31st Fri - Most traders know about front running involving a broker. However, few realize the most common type of front running occurs in illiquid trading instruments involving traders with large accounts trading their own money or the money of others.

Jul 24th Fri - The term enoughism is relatively new and I first saw it used by a French tourist writing on twitter as he stayed in contact with family and friends while traveling in the United States.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enoughism

Jul 22nd Weds - Just learned the other day the historical recessions of the United States and realized my assumption that there has only been 4 or 5 of them was grossly wrong.

Jul 20th Mon - I thought it was a joke when someone told me what burgernomics meant...Big Mac Index.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgernomics

Jul 17th Fri- If you ever have a chance to visit Chicago (a.k.a. windy city) in Illinois...go for a walk near the
Chicago Mercantile Exchange around lunch time and start a conversation with a floor trader (they have on the deep color jackets with floor tag on the front) about how he/she got interested in the markets.

Jul 15th Weds - You'll be surprised to know that most traders don't know that the world's largest futures and option exchange is Eurex...home of the Dax, BUND futures and many others.

Jul 13th Mon - Stock market crashes always interest me and the first one I was trading in is now called Black Monday.
