Post subject: | Could Volatility Be Predicted ? | ||
The following observation or question was posted @ EliteTrader.com Quote: Quote from A00082994: I am a newbie,I heard that the volatility instead of the price could be predicted. If so,how to predict it and is there any good methods? thank you much Reply To Question Give an example of what you refer to as "predicted" so that we can better understand your question. For example, on Jan 18th Tuesday around 0830am est there will be a volatility spike in the Emini Futures, Eurex Futures and Euronext Futures...would that qualified as something you're talking about. Another possible example...after 2 - 3 range trading days, the next trade day has a 68.4% chance to produce at least 2 intraday strong directional price actions or a trend day...would that qualified as something you're talking about. Yet another example...VIX or VXX in a tight trading range or trend price actions, there's a 86.7% chance the Index Futures will have the similar like price actions...would that qualified as something you're talking about. The above involves Volatility Analysis and there's many more examples which is why I'm curious about what exactly you're talking about.
