#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Further, although our chat room is smaller than the other popular chat rooms...we are the most active chat room in posting trades or market commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies in comparison to other free chat rooms.

#FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a real time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

In addition, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets to help keep the chat room diversified...posting trades or market commentaries. Also, if you're looking for real-time education in the chat room involving price action only trading (profitably trading without indicators)...you need to contact us to schedule price action only trading real-time discussions. We'll then have one on one (private) real-time price action only trading discussions with you while you're using #FuturesTrades real-time chat room to prevent distractions in the chat room with other members that are using different trading methods in comparison to us. However, you must first download and learn our free study guide at a different forum @ TSL Support Forum * http://www.thestrategylab.com/tsl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=180

With that said, thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and we highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trade information not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books if you're not interested in scheduling one on one (private) real-time price action only trading education discussions. To gain access to #FuturesTrades chat room...please follow the instructions @ FTCHAT Support Forum * http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

Session Start: Fri Oct 28 08:59:00 2011
Session Ident: #FuturesTrades
[08:59:00] * Now talking in #FuturesTrades
[08:59:00] <@X> [NihabaAshi] chat room archives @ viewforum.php?f=20
[09:29:13] <Trendtrader> gm all
[09:30:34] <@wrbtrader> Good morning all...
[09:31:02] <@wrbtrader> I want to mention something very important about #FuturesTrades since 1999
[09:31:23] <@wrbtrader> Whenever the markets go up consistently...we lose members
[09:31:51] <@wrbtrader> Membership only increases or former members return when markets go DOWN consistently.
[09:32:01] <+Trendtrader> Long Emini TF @ 760.6 «« simulator »»
[09:32:05] <drt> gm a
[09:32:08] <@wrbtrader> I just wanted to mention that odd observation.
[09:32:30] <+Trendtrader> Exited 1/2 Emini TF Long @ 761.4 --> + 0.8 «« simulator »»
[09:32:49] <+Trendtrader> Exited Remainder Emini TF Long @ 760.5 --> - 0.1 «« simulator »»
[09:34:10] <+Trendtrader> :(
[09:40:18] <@wrbtrader> nice strong directional price movement so far
[09:45:14] <@wrbtrader> we got a volatility spike...now just waiting for a confirmed "low volatility creeper price movement" to look for a Long position
[09:46:49] <@wrbtrader> didn't happen
[09:56:34] <@wrbtrader> Long Emini TF @ 758.60 -> large size
[09:58:34] <@wrbtrader> trailing @ profit
[09:59:10] <@wrbtrader> Exited 2/3 Emini TF Long @ 760.80 --> + 2.2
[09:59:57] <@X> #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for traders of Emini Futures (EMD, TF, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (6E, EC), Eurex/Euronext Futures (DAX, ESTX50, FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM), Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, XLE, QQQQ, SPY) and Forex Currencies
[10:00:03] <@wrbtrader> profit trail tighten
[10:03:03] <@wrbtrader> Exited Emini TF Long @ 761.60 --> + 3
[10:03:05] <@wrbtrader> Holding 1 contract remainder
[10:04:08] <@wrbtrader> Exited Remainder Emini TF Long @ 761.00 --> + 2.4
Quote:
[10:09:31] <dallasm> wrbtrader do you have profit targets sent when you place your order?
[10:10:00] <@wrbtrader> I'm not sure what you mean by "sent" ?

[10:10:19] <+dallasm> bracket orders.. when placed...
[10:10:23] <+dallasm> or filled
[10:10:51] <@wrbtrader> I don't use bracket orders
[10:12:45] <+dallasm> ok. because the market went down very fast yesterday around 14:36 so I was wondering how you handle those situations..
[10:12:51] <+dallasm> CST time
[10:14:06] <+dallasm> if you had of been short..
[10:14:11] <@wrbtrader> That's good right ?
Quote:
[10:14:59] <@wrbtrader> Bracket orders are counter-productive when using WRB Analysis

[10:15:47] <@wrbtrader> Bracket orders implies you want to EXIT at a particular price...regardless to what WRB Analysis may be saying
[10:16:26] <@wrbtrader> Bracket Orders ignore "current price action" because bracket orders are based upon info PRIOR to your entry...
[10:16:30] <+dallasm> ok I see what your saying as WRB analysis was not appplicable to that move..
[10:16:49] <@wrbtrader> I'm saying WRB Analysis was VERY applicable to that move...
[10:16:57] <@wrbtrader> Bracket Orders was not.
[10:16:57] <+dallasm> one of those free falls
[10:17:36] <+dallasm> so did you trade it on the move up/reversal?
[10:19:23] <@wrbtrader> You talking about the price drop between 1530pm - 1554pm est (1430pm - 1454pm cst) ???
[10:19:55] <+dallasm> yes...
[10:20:18] <@wrbtrader> I was not here...I called it quits for the day around 1528pm est
[10:20:27] <@wrbtrader> Had to go pick up my kids from school
[10:21:36] <+dallasm> ok.. gotcha was a dramatic move down.. so It recoiled before I could lock in profit..
[10:21:46] <+dallasm> I mean in seconds LOL
[10:21:54] <@wrbtrader> At what time/price were you Short ?
[10:22:07] <+dallasm> let me check
[10:27:55] <+dallasm> I scalled in (may have been wront thing to do) Starting at 7:49.42 and 7:49:53 purchased another contract at 7:52:24 which in hindsight was the bottom and it moved quickly against me.
[10:28:22] <@wrbtrader> 7:49am cst
[10:28:24] <@wrbtrader> ?
[10:28:34] <+dallasm> lol sorry gmt.. looking at the statement
[10:28:44] <+dallasm> so ignore the 7...
[10:28:50] <@wrbtrader> Ok
[10:29:21] <@wrbtrader> basically you try shorting the "bottom" of that big down move but at the time of your Short entry you didn't know it was the "bottom"
Quote:
[10:30:08] <+dallasm> yes and even the ones that were on the way down.. ended up at best breaking even when I thought I was going to lock in a profit.

[10:30:39] <+dallasm> that's what prompted my question about what methods you use to lock in profit in extremly fast moving situations
[10:31:58] <@wrbtrader> The price area you shorted was actually a WRB pt1 had you been short much higher by several points.
[10:32:11] <@wrbtrader> That was a key element going against you.
[10:32:47] <@wrbtrader> Regardless, how far were you in the profit before it reversed and went against you ?
[10:35:07] <+dallasm> ok think I just got greedy started shorting at 7:45:31 at 764.00 locked in profit at 7:49:13 for 760.20 for 4 points
[10:35:23] <@wrbtrader> My point is that you should always use a "trigger price"...a price that when your trade goes a particular distance in profit...it prompts you to "move" your initial stop loss protection into a "profitable trailing stop".
[10:36:41] <@wrbtrader> tightening that "profitable trail stop" to be closer to the current price as the price action seems to "stall" or "hesitate" after moving FAST.
[10:37:15] <@wrbtrader> That "stall" or "hesitation" you see in the price quotes could actually be a "pending" change in supply/demand.
Quote:
[10:37:18] <+dallasm> ok.. i see what you are saying.. and that's what I did not do... think I just got to get use to DOM.. and take off auto center.. the TF moves so fast it seems hard to put in the stop in those situations..

[10:37:51] <@wrbtrader> I tried bracket orders while trading Emini TF...almost caused my worst trading day EVER.
[10:37:57] <@wrbtrader> Didn't dod that again.
[10:38:20] <@wrbtrader> Bracket Orders only "not" suitable for volatile trading instruments in my opinion.
[10:38:34] <@wrbtrader> or volatilite price actions
[10:39:06] <@wrbtrader> It was a few years ago when I tried Bracket Orders...didn't do it again after that disaster trading day.
[10:40:07] <+dallasm> I agree.. I instinctively felt that the brackets didn't fit this markets but didn't know what was the best way to lock in profit..
[10:43:10] <@wrbtrader> WRB Hidden GAP @ 1036am est via 2min chart
[10:43:49] <@wrbtrader> It just got filled by the current volatility spike back down
[10:51:00] <@wrbtrader> Due to that deep retracement (fill of that mentioned WRB Hidden GAP)...
[10:51:30] <@wrbtrader> I'm now watching the Advance Decline Lines very closely for any "creeper up movement" instead of watching the Emini Futures.
[10:51:56] <@wrbtrader> Had they not retraced that WRB Hidden GAP...I would not be watching the Advance Decline Lines
[10:56:27] <@wrbtrader> Long Emini TF @ 762.50 -> small size
[10:56:33] <@wrbtrader> 3 contracts
[10:57:00] <@wrbtrader> Exited all Emini TF Long @ 761.90 --> - 0.6
[10:57:18] <@wrbtrader> Long Emini TF @ 761.80 -> small size
[10:57:35] <@wrbtrader> re-entry into the same price action (creeper up movement)
[11:02:02] <@wrbtrader> Exited all Emini TF Long @ 763.30 --> + 1.5
Quote:
[11:03:08] <@wrbtrader> That was a tough WRB Analysis profit target...had to use the price action of Emini NQ when it completed the retracement of that 1042am est volatility spike...
[11:03:50] <@wrbtrader> That retracement was completed at the exact same time the OIH/XLE Oil exchange traded funds made a WRB pt1 out of their own "creeper up movement".
[11:04:24] <@wrbtrader> * intermarket analysis for trade management of my exit in Emini TF

[11:11:06] <+dallasm> interesting analysis.. how you combined all that..
[11:12:07] <@wrbtrader> Yeah...I'll do that type of analysis when a trade goes my way by about +1.5 points and hasn't reached it's own WRB pt1 and then starts to "stall" or "hesitate" to move further.

-------------------------

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own trade signal methods, different perspective of the markets and different experience levels. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others because sometimes the answers contains useful trading tips.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different trade signal methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisements for guest visitors.

Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or price action only trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
