#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

Also, mimicking the trades by others is not recommended. More info about the chat room @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum
[11:09:01] <+JimL1> low volume falls with little retracment = few joining oppyts - going to quit for a while can't get but a couple of ticks w/o too risky stops barely ahead
[11:09:53] <+JimL1> very very frustrating - mentally bad success
[11:11:55] <+JimL1> looks so simple after the fact, but missed proper entires @ 10, got 10:15 missed 10:43, 10:49
[11:17:01] <+codehead> Ym .382 pb, then .382 bounce, both exact
[11:25:47] <+codehead> NQ bounce so far very weak
[11:25:58] <+codehead> but could try 1815

[11:34:54] <+pat255> S ym 21 paper
[11:41:49] <+codehead> oathetic NQ bounce, but long frame still trying ot turn up
[11:41:54] <+codehead> pathetic
[11:42:01] <+codehead> pinched
[11:44:13] <+codehead> above 1811.50 should try 1815
[11:49:50] <+codehead> YM bounced .500, NQ not even remotely close to .382
[11:50:11] <+rickf> back for a bitt ... heading out in a bit for B'berg's DC bureau
[11:50:12] <+codehead> testing dbl bottom
[11:50:38] <+codehead> bilderberg?
[11:50:42] <+codehead> just kidding
[11:50:51] <+rickf> no that was last month
[11:50:55] <+codehead> lol
[11:51:09] <+codehead> my long frame extremely pinched on NQ
[11:51:18] <+codehead> short frame divergent
[11:51:31] <+codehead> so we may get some bounce
[11:51:39] <+codehead> obviously, stops will be under the low there
[11:52:17] <+codehead> oil bounce
[11:52:56] <+codehead> Ym again sotpped at .500
[12:04:17] <+pat255> out all YM -10
[12:13:35] <+codehead> NQ tapped 1815, took a while
[12:13:58] <+codehead> which is... .382
[12:14:05] <+codehead> YM went past .786
[12:14:13] <+codehead> so big difference
[12:23:16] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [12:29:26] <@wrbtrader> looking to add
[12:32:32] <@wrbtrader> Covered TF Short @ 619.10 --> - 0.1
[12:32:48] <@wrbtrader> I messed that one up big time
[12:57:56] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 618.50 -> small size
[12:58:03] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[12:58:08] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[12:58:37] <@wrbtrader> missed several trade opportunities today that would have made it a very easy trading day
[12:59:33] <@wrbtrader> Regardless...grab what we can get :)
[13:01:07] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 618.20 --> + 0.3

[13:05:12] <+rickf> back later this afternoon ...

[15:20:43] <+JimL1> frustrating consolidation all afternoon :,<
[15:25:10] <@wrbtrader> I spent most of the day watching my spouse walk around in her bikini...so did the neighbor.
[15:25:48] <@wrbtrader> Regardless, I'm wasn't mentally ready to trade prior to chosing my distractions
[15:25:51] <+rickf> i did a bloomberg interview. you had more fun. i had to wear makeup.
[15:26:10] <@wrbtrader> makeup...cross dressing ?
[15:26:16] <+rickf> studio lights
[15:26:17] <@wrbtrader> :)
[15:26:24] <+rickf> b----tch you, wrbtrader
[15:26:27] <+rickf> lol
[15:26:29] <@wrbtrader> Ahhh...ok :)
[15:26:57] <+Inertia> rf link?
[15:27:06] <+rickf> not up yet
[15:27:26] <+Inertia> do u want 2 leak it?
[15:27:33] <+Inertia> the content....
[15:27:34] <+rickf> i don't HAVE it
[15:27:44] <+rickf> google street
[15:28:06] <+Inertia> i don't know anybody on that street
[15:28:25] <+Inertia> what #?
[15:28:38] <+rickf> no the google street wi-fi sniffing story
[15:28:50] <+Inertia> :)))) just pulling your leg
[15:29:24] <+rickf> sorry - am a bit torked they used my personal website instead of professional to identify me
[15:29:46] <+Inertia> u can expect a lot of spam now
[15:29:58] <+rickf> on top of the 5K I get a week already?
[15:30:19] <+Inertia> ok, i'll try and send less
[15:30:53] <+rickf> ;)
[15:31:05] <+Inertia> anyway, I was calm as a cucumber 2day
[15:31:16] <+rickf> today didn't do much of anything it seems
[15:31:22] <+Inertia> all trades by the rules
[15:31:29] <+rickf> good !
[15:31:48] <+Inertia> I think that could b atributed to the fact that my 2st trade was a larger winner (4 a change)
[15:32:31] <+Inertia> I was reading about MINDFULNESS over the w.e.
[15:32:33] <+rickf> if they were all winners, or your %age today was better, that's more important i think
[15:32:43] <+Inertia> interesting stuff
[15:32:44] <+rickf> shows consistency and discipline
[15:33:21] <+Inertia> 4W 3L
[15:34:04] <+rickf> so you are green for the day
[15:34:09] <+Inertia> y
[15:34:10] <+rickf> ?
[15:34:12] <+rickf> yay
[15:34:23] <+Inertia> but not b/c the winners out number the losers
[15:34:52] <+Inertia> sometimes the ratio of W/L is not indicative of daily results
[15:35:00] <+rickf> agreed
[15:35:14] <+rickf> can have 3 losers and 1 winner, but if your winner is a runner, you're good to go
[15:36:22] <+Inertia> it gives a false sense of well being to have more winners than losers
[15:37:01] <+rickf> yessir
[15:37:41] <+Inertia> in sim I had 65-75% winners but in live i did not reach that
[15:39:08] <+rickf> sim and life =! the same. great for strategy testing, but not trade execution/management in my view
[15:39:22] <+rickf> the whole psychological/adrenaline/emotional thing is lacking in the sim
[15:40:16] <+Inertia> the problem is than how do u confirm that u have an edge if u cannot backtest it
[15:40:17] <+rickf> when i sim-traded the second time (after blowing first account) i would move 8 or 10 contracts for each trade -- that *sort* of made it feel a bit more realistic to me....seeing the $$ gain/losses so big. Then when I went back to 1-2 live, it was easier to deal with
[15:41:16] <+rickf> the only edge in my mind is discipline and situational awareness
[15:41:25] <+Inertia> (the last thing I wrote has no logical connection to what we discussed so far)
[15:42:01] <+rickf> any strategy/indicator 'edge' will work for a while, but when it doesn't, can you change to find a new 'edge'?
[15:42:16] <+Inertia> but u still need an edge even if - and I believe this 2 b true - one can make money in the market with random entries
[15:42:56] <+rickf> not to sound crass or rude, but my 'edge' is to NOT take blind signals from the screen
[15:43:34] <+Inertia> Yes, that is a start but do u agree that making $ IS possible with random entries?
[15:43:50] <+rickf> with proper risk controls, yes i gather it'd be possible
[15:43:58] <+rickf> though not just to throw darts
[15:44:29] <@wrbtrader> markets not in sync again
[15:44:31] <+rickf> ie if the market is trending down, you can short and forget it. yeah it may move against you but if your thesis is right and the market is bearish, you can ride the trend and ignore the drawdown
[15:44:42] <+Inertia> sorry phone
[15:44:49] <+rickf> but to just say "oh, go short!" blindly? suicide imho
[15:45:36] <+rickf> bottom line i think ...
[15:45:45] <+rickf> any strategy/style/method can work with 3 conditions....
[15:45:53] <+rickf> 1) situational awareness of the markets
[15:46:05] <+rickf> 2) proper risk controls - however you care to define them
[15:46:26] <+rickf> 3) discipline to follow 1 and 2, but realise that you may need to adapt with the market.
[15:46:31] <+rickf> end soapbox. :)
[15:46:57] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 620.30 -> small size
[15:47:01] <@wrbtrader> 3 only
[15:47:03] <@wrbtrader> chasing
[15:47:07] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[15:47:23] <@wrbtrader> had a valid signal earlier but didn't like the chop
[15:47:36] <+rickf> no kidding - tight range since noontime
[15:47:43] <+rickf> wonder why
[15:48:42] <+rickf> oooh earnings start today
[15:48:44] <+rickf> nevermind
[15:49:55] <@wrbtrader> Covered 2/3 TF Short @ 619.30 --> + 1
[15:50:54] <@wrbtrader> trailing @ profit
[15:55:20] <@wrbtrader> Covered Remainder TF Short @ 620.00 --> + 0.3
[15:55:39] <+Inertia> back
[15:55:49] <+Inertia> missed the short. (had a signal)
[15:55:53] <+Inertia> oh well
[15:55:57] <@wrbtrader> Clock time ?
[15:56:04] <+Inertia> ???
[15:56:09] <+Inertia> what is that?
[15:56:33] <+rickf> 2 min to close
[15:56:36] <@wrbtrader> my computer clock, broker clock and chart program clock are all different ?
[15:56:42] <@wrbtrader> geeesh
[15:56:55] <+rickf> 1559
[15:57:11] <+Inertia> i have a 3 sec diff between them
[15:59:38] <+Inertia> I use a program that synch's my clock everyday to an atomic clock
[15:59:53] <+rickf> ding
[16:00:01] <+Inertia> dong
[16:01:57] <@wrbtrader> Take care all...I did very little trading and I feel exhausted :(
[16:02:05] * wrbtrader is now known as wrbtrader_away
[16:08:32] <+rickf> cya
[16:08:39] <+Inertia> bye

[16:11:41] <+rickf> definately -- gonna be a fun few weeks coming up

-------------------------

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods and different perspective of the markets. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
