#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

[08:52:10] * Now talking in #FuturesTrades
[08:52:10] <@X> [NihabaAshi] Announcement: The new trade posting script v3.7 (replaces v3.6) is posted at your forum in the "Announcements" thread.

[09:25:50] <+Time4now> what were the results?
[09:26:03] <+rickf> he was market-neutral :)
[09:26:24] <+Time4now> yep
[09:26:33] <@wrbtrader> Instead of trading...took the kids out of day camp and took them on a picnic and to play football (taught them how to punt and kick field goals)
[09:26:37] <@wrbtrader> :)
[09:27:13] <+Time4now> sounds like a win
[09:27:17] <+rickf> nice
[09:28:43] <drt> gm
[09:29:51] <+rickf> News at 945 and 955
[09:38:23] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 638.30 -> medium size
[09:38:27] <@wrbtrader> 4 only
[09:41:46] <+rickf> sheesh
[09:41:50] <+Time4now> yeah
[09:41:52] <+rickf> oh right news

[09:43:16] <+rickf> sidelined until news is out
[09:45:00] <+rickf> PMI was like 5 points higher than expected
[09:45:18] <+rickf> 62.3 actual, consensus 56, prior was 59.1
[09:47:25] <@wrbtrader> JUst got a bearish signal...lets see if TF can fight and move back higher
[09:48:14] <+rickf> i did not know that subscribers to the Chicago PMI can get the report 3 mins early
[09:48:22] <@wrbtrader> Yes
[09:48:41] <+rickf> ...and who says the game ain't rigged. wonder how much THAT costs
[09:52:38] <@wrbtrader> Market waiting for the 0955am est Consumer Sentiment report
[09:53:03] <+rickf> yup ... got a technical short entry on the horizon, but not taking until news
[09:53:08] <@wrbtrader> Me too to see if I can get lucky on holding these remainders beyond their profit targets
[09:53:56] <Inertia> U/D vol is heavily skewd to the down side
[09:53:57] <@wrbtrader> tighten trail stop @ profit
[09:54:21] <+Inertia> which probably means nothing. as usual
[09:54:50] <+rickf> cons sentiment: consensus 67, prior 66.5, actual 67.8
[09:55:18] <@wrbtrader> Exited 1/4 TF Long @ 644.00 --> + 5.7
[09:55:25] <+rickf> gdp tanks the market, 2 news reports bring it back up. wow.
[09:58:37] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-smpf-57kb
[09:59:57] <@wrbtrader> Exited 1/4 TF Long @ 645.50 --> + 7.2
[10:00:16] <@wrbtrader> Holding 1 contract remainder
[10:01:53] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. Also, mimicking the trades by others is not recommended. More info about the chat room @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum
[10:02:02] <+Time4now> not bad for the first trade of the day
[10:04:16] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-nlle-60kb
[10:04:40] <+Inertia> NT reversed one of my exits instead of just closing it :(
[10:05:48] <@wrbtrader> geeesh
[10:06:00] <+rickf> short tf 649.1 paper
[10:06:28] <@wrbtrader> Exited Remainder TF Long @ 649.50 --> + 11.2
[10:06:36] <+rickf> vvvv n
[10:07:19] <+Inertia> I am turning green :)
[10:07:42] <@wrbtrader> crazy trade...almost exited it for a small loss of -0.4 then almost exited again for a small profit of +0.8
[10:08:05] <@wrbtrader> rolled the dice while at profit that there will be an attempt of the overnight gap fill
[10:10:30] <@wrbtrader> IWM filled it's gap...has been retracing a little ever since
[10:10:54] <+rickf> exit tf 657.2 +1.9 paper
[10:11:49] <+rickf> when i am in a trade on the TF and profitable, the jumpyness of the b/a makes me exit early most times to protect profits
[10:12:06] <+rickf> i still think lower. but exited anyway
[10:12:26] <+rickf> prolly shouldn't complain, if i can get 1+ points on the TF I'm happy
[10:12:32] <+rickf> and do it consistently
[10:13:34] <+rickf> i may do an automatic profit target on 3/4 of the position and then work the rest manually
[10:13:45] <+rickf> since it jumps around so damn much
[10:13:57] <+rickf> but i am liking the moves when it moves :)
[10:26:25] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 648.00 -> small size
[10:26:28] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[10:27:47] <pdays> Shorts ES @ 1095.5
[10:28:03] <+pdays> Covered all ES Short @ 1093.25 --> + 2.25
[10:29:29] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 649.70 --> + 1.7
[10:37:59] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-uhpa-63kb
[10:41:27] <@wrbtrader> TF and other key markets still climbing higher
[10:41:35] <@wrbtrader> That's a ton of upside pressure
[10:55:27] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 652.50 -> small size
[10:55:30] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[10:56:21] <@wrbtrader> TF bouncing around different levels too easy...actually almost skipping levels
[11:01:45] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 653.60 --> + 1.1
[11:29:21] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [11:30:29] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 651.00 -> small size
[11:30:39] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[11:30:47] <@wrbtrader> late by about 8 ticks
[11:31:02] <@wrbtrader> had a little distraction
[11:31:16] <@wrbtrader> will be taking a break soon because of such
[11:32:06] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 650.30 --> - 0.7
[11:37:35] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 649.30 -> small size
[11:37:41] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[11:37:51] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[11:45:41] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 651.00 --> - 1.7
[11:46:10] <@wrbtrader> be back later...let an unattended trade take a big hit :(
[11:46:20] * wrbtrader is now known as wrbtrader_away

[13:52:47] <+rickf> short tf 658.4 paper
[13:55:48] <+rickf> exit tf 647.1 +1.3 paper
[13:56:23] <+rickf> that was w/a 1.2 take-profit order
[13:56:29] <pat255> vn rick
[13:56:35] <+rickf> nice, but i gave up a bunch more on the townside. :(
[13:56:36] <+pat255> not trading sick as a dog
[13:56:36] <+rickf> thx
[13:56:39] <+rickf> :(
[13:57:45] <+pat255> go to doctor look at some more sick people in the waiting room .
[13:57:53] <+pat255> get worse ..
[13:58:03] <+pat255> they should keep some good looking nurses to console the patients
[13:58:13] <+pat255> plus will help the unemplyment ..
[13:58:19] <+rickf> heh
[13:59:11] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-6tz8-50kb
[13:59:30] <+Inertia> I still think we will close up today
[14:06:12] <+pat255> looks like
[14:06:50] * wrbtrader_away is now known as wrbtrader
[14:10:50] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-difu-52kb
[14:11:16] <+Inertia> recovered from my last loss :)
[14:18:33] <+Inertia> had only 1 unit so could not keep a runner (maybe I would not have kept it anyway)
[14:19:52] <+rickf> trading the etf i see
[14:20:02] <+Time4now> why trade it over futures?
[14:20:16] <+Time4now> i've wondered for a while now..
[14:22:24] <+Inertia> i trade @ a 10:1 reduction of size/risk relative to the Futures
[14:22:50] <+Inertia> once I am consistantly profitable in the ETFs I'll switch to the Futures
[14:22:59] <+Time4now> good plan
[14:23:03] <+Inertia> today I went up from 200 to 300 shares
[14:23:23] <+rickf> interesting approach - hope it works for you over time!
[14:23:30] <+Inertia> the last 2 trades were only 100 shares each b/c the trend was down but I had a feeling that we wil go up
[14:24:33] <+Inertia> I am comparing my trades to the futures (everyday) and I noticed that some days I would have made $ in the futures but lost in the ETFs b/c the commision plays a bigger part
[14:25:01] <+Inertia> I switched to live trading completely about 2-3 weeks ago
[14:25:43] <+Inertia> when I was trading sim and live my state of mind and actions due to the sim, were influencing my live trades not in a positive way
[14:26:59] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [14:27:19] <+Time4now> I have not tried both at the same time
[14:27:26] <+Time4now> but it would be tough
[14:27:29] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 649.00 -> small size
[14:27:39] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[14:28:19] <@wrbtrader> Covered TF Short @ 649.50 --> - 0.5
[14:35:54] <+rickf> poss short on the tf coming up
[14:36:04] <+rickf> (for me)
[14:42:21] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 650.20 -> small size
[14:42:26] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[14:48:50] <+rickf> short tf 649.7 paper
[14:55:46] <@wrbtrader> low volatility range getting small and smaller
[14:56:38] <+rickf> exit 649.4 + .3 paper
[14:56:53] <+rickf> still bearish but nervous
[14:57:42] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 649.00 --> - 1.2
[14:58:05] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-prcv-57kb
[14:58:06] <+rickf> lat hour
[14:58:08] <+rickf> last
[14:58:12] <+Inertia> this was a tough one
[14:59:03] <@wrbtrader> Anybody tell me the current time of their broker platform (time check) ???
[14:59:08] <+rickf> 1501
[14:59:12] <+rickf> ET
[14:59:15] <@wrbtrader> thanks
[14:59:20] <+rickf> np
[14:59:48] <+rickf> once again, gave up full point or more because the jittery b/a spooks me
[14:59:52] <+rickf> GRR
[14:59:55] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-vghy-54kb
[15:00:13] <@wrbtrader> I have a problem with my computer clock...requires me to re-adjust it multiple times every day since about 2 weeks ago :(
[15:00:19] <+Inertia> 15:02:30
[15:00:27] <+rickf> replace the CMOS/BIOS battery on the motherboard
[15:00:33] <+rickf> shoudl fix the problem
[15:01:23] <@wrbtrader> if its that...wouldn't a bad CMOS battery produce other problems besides the clock ???
[15:01:42] <+rickf> it could, but usually the clock is the first sign the user notices
[15:02:16] <@wrbtrader> Hmmm...my clock auto re-adjust itself to 3mins behind after I reset it...does such within 1 hour.
[15:02:35] <+Inertia> I use a program called Atomic Clock which synch's my clock every day when I boot up
[15:02:46] <+Inertia> see if that 3 min is constant or changing
[15:02:48] <+rickf> generally - my experience - is that clocks that need constant resetting are due to bad battery
[15:02:55] <+pat255> have similar problem sets 1 hr later so I watch it & have to reset the time
[15:02:56] <+Inertia> if it's changing >>> the battery is the prob
[15:03:05] <+rickf> inertia has a good idea about syncing it via atomic clock
[15:03:10] <+rickf> asa short-term fix
[15:03:44] <@wrbtrader> Yeah...but if its the battery...auto adjusting it upon boot up won't fix the problem as long as the computer is still on.
[15:04:02] <@wrbtrader> Thus, it should slow down (not be insync) until the next bootup
[15:04:10] <+rickf> agreed - though you'd need to sync every hour. frankly i'd do the battery switch and see if that helps
[15:05:04] <@wrbtrader> Thanks
[15:05:10] <+rickf> np
[15:09:37] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-mzu9-55kb
[15:09:42] <+Inertia> just 1 unit
[15:13:41] <@wrbtrader> don't know what to think about the current up movement after the shake down...
[15:13:59] <@wrbtrader> sneaky is the first thought
[15:14:41] <@wrbtrader> However, it's moving upwards on very low contracts without any institutional participation.
[15:20:56] <+pat255> N u watch the T/S winodw? for setups?
[15:21:48] <@wrbtrader> no
[15:22:25] <@wrbtrader> This price movement is still rising on 1 contract trades
[15:22:48] <+rickf> N i see no volume above 651.9
[15:23:09] <+pat255> k .
[15:23:14] <+rickf> if i am reading the volume correctly on the dom -- i don't use volume normally
[15:23:26] <@wrbtrader> I've been suspicious about the price movement all they even during this morning run up...
[15:23:43] <@wrbtrader> 1 contract trades slicing through levels as if they were 10 contract trades.
[15:23:50] <@wrbtrader> Often skipping price levels
[15:24:00] <@wrbtrader> from one tick to the next tick
[15:24:06] <+rickf> yeah - got a 5-tick volume void
[15:24:07] <+pat255> Fri PM big boys are all gone
[15:24:21] <+rickf> weird
[15:26:28] <+rickf> you're right ... all 1 and 2 lot moves
[15:26:39] <+rickf> maybe a 5-lot every other minute or so
[15:27:09] <+pat255> man what a run 9 pts on ES
[15:31:31] <+rickf> what a turnaround today
[15:31:44] <+rickf> down ES 15 after GDP and now up 5
[15:34:16] <+rickf> 3 for 3 today. i'm feeling better about my trading this week and about the TF
[15:34:48] <+rickf> missed a nice mid-day one, but c'est life
[15:35:22] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 651.40 -> small size
[15:35:26] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[15:36:25] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 650.40 -> Add
[15:36:38] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[15:38:16] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 650.60 -> Add
[15:38:20] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[15:39:29] <@wrbtrader> Covered 1/3 TF Short @ 650.30 --> + 0.3
[15:40:39] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 651.00 --> + 0.4
[15:41:19] <@wrbtrader> overall +0.1 :(
[15:41:49] <@wrbtrader> not worth it but the skipping around the levels is tough to enter a decent size on any small volatility increase
[15:41:50] <+rickf> not to be the yin to wrbtrader's yang, but i'm actiually looking long now
[15:43:37] <@wrbtrader> Maybe (hopefully) the pending 4pm est rush hour traffic will stop the level skipping
[15:43:55] <+Inertia> http://my.jetscreenshot.com/demo/20100730-re5v-57kb
[15:43:55] <+rickf> yeah it's pretty bad right now -- worse than earlier this week
[15:44:40] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 650.70 -> small size
[15:44:50] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[15:44:55] <@wrbtrader> trade error
[15:45:03] <@wrbtrader> will hold but watching closely
[15:45:37] <+rickf> ok not taking a position.....not sure about that longish view now
[15:45:40] <@wrbtrader> The way it skips around...shouldn't be a problem with getting a Houdini Escape
[15:46:04] <+rickf> that actualyl helped me this week
[15:49:43] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 650.70 --> 0
[15:49:50] <@wrbtrader> late post
[15:50:00] <@wrbtrader> just watching it skip around
[15:51:05] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 649.90 -> small size
[15:51:19] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[15:53:05] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 649.80 --> + 0.1
[15:53:35] <+rickf> done for the week
[15:53:44] <+rickf> not risking profits in this mess
[15:54:32] <@wrbtrader> I'm still 2x above my profit level...still trying to get greedy via another big trade
[15:54:58] <+rickf> yeah yeah yeah :)
[15:55:37] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [15:56:19] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 649.40 -> small size
[15:56:32] <@wrbtrader> 3 only
[15:58:36] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 648.80 --> + 0.6
[15:58:50] <@wrbtrader> wasn't meant to be
[16:00:11] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 649.50 -> small size
[16:00:30] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[16:01:20] <@wrbtrader> If I see this type of price action on Monday...I'll call it quits very early in the morning.
[16:01:29] <+rickf> no kidding
[16:01:57] <@wrbtrader> It's that same price action when ER2 switched from the CME to the ICE exchange to be known as TF.
[16:02:11] <+rickf> it wasn't that bad earlier in the week i dont think
[16:02:21] <@wrbtrader> Took almost a year an a half for that crap to stop after the exchange switch
[16:02:22] <+rickf> then again i'm only 1 week into TF trading
[16:03:00] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 649.00 --> - 0.5
[16:04:48] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 649.10 -> small size
[16:04:56] <@wrbtrader> another intuition
[16:05:29] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[16:06:14] <+rickf> okay guys - have a good w/e .... see you all next week
[16:06:34] <+Inertia> is there trading on Monday?
[16:06:53] <@wrbtrader> August 2nd Monday
[16:06:59] <+Inertia> y
[16:07:21] <+Inertia> it's a civic holiday
[16:07:33] <@wrbtrader> Economic calendar saids YES
[16:07:43] <+Inertia> thanks
[16:07:58] <+Inertia> probably only in Canada/Ontario
[16:10:32] <@wrbtrader> Yeah...it saids it's the longest holiday weekend (this weekend) for the month of August...that Civic Holiday
[16:10:44] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 649.30 --> + 0.2
[16:11:17] <@wrbtrader> Probably explains why two of my neighbors left this morning in their big RVs
[16:11:30] <@wrbtrader> glad their gone too...one of those things is an eyesore
[16:12:13] <+Inertia> buy a rusted clunker and put it close to their driveway
[16:12:45] <+Inertia> make holes in the mufller and start it every once in a while in the middle of the night :))
[16:14:16] <+Inertia> had Dodge Dart like that many years ago. as the holes in the mufleer grew bigger the noise was louder but i got better milage b/c the Catalityc converter was probably clogged
[16:14:40] <@wrbtrader> He's got plenty of room to store that big thing in the back of his house...a yard that's probably about 80 square feet
[16:14:57] <@wrbtrader> but he doesn't want to ruin his grass :(

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods and different perspective of the markets. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
