#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

[11:25] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [11:32] <+Inertia> I just figured out another diff between my sim and my live trading >> In my sim trading I am more flexible with my targets whereas in live I am setting my targets too far to compensate for losses from bad trades
[12:04] <codehead> NQ has a res 1800.00-1800.50
[12:05] <+codehead> it's into a gap, with fill at 1897.75
[12:20] <+codehead> short NQ 1880.25 <paper> 2.50 stop
[12:21] <+codehead> too against the trend, don't have guts to take it real
[12:21] <+codehead> too strong here
[12:22] <+codehead> exit NQ -1.00 <paper>
[12:24] <+codehead> YM has better chance of getting tired here
[12:24] <+codehead> having trouble around yesterday high, and short-time frame looking down
[12:25] <+codehead> might roll over here
[12:30] * +Time4now long 657.9
[12:30] <+codehead> short NQ 1881.25 <paper> 2.50 stop
[12:32] <+codehead> exit half NQ +1.00 <paper>
[12:32] <+codehead> stop b/e remainder <paper>
[12:32] <+codehead> going to hunt real trades...
[12:32] <+codehead> YM much weaker than NQ
[12:33] <+codehead> for options, NQ and ES more likely to be driven up than YM, btw
[12:34] <+codehead> oil new hod
[12:35] * +Time4now out 658.3
[12:35] <+Time4now> had opposed signals
[12:38] <+Time4now> looks like the larger time frame won out
[12:41] <+codehead> exit NQ +4.25 <paper>
[12:41] <+codehead> should hit 1876, 75, but 1877 was the easy target
[12:42] <+codehead> that second trade should ahve been a money trade, but was bent on avenging the first paper trade :-/
[12:42] <+codehead> lol
[12:42] <+Time4now> ha funny
[12:43] <+codehead> got up late, only one real trade today, jsut a few ticks
[12:43] <+Time4now> same,
[12:43] <+Time4now> my headache is subsiding
[12:43] <+codehead> YM was clearly the weaker
[12:43] <+codehead> lost most of that last run up
[12:44] <+codehead> so, it ends up that IB put the booktrader confirmation in on purpose, management decision
[12:44] <+codehead> no doubt due to patter pressure from trading technologies
[12:45] * +Time4now long 656.9
[12:46] <+codehead> 1877.00 was .382 btw
[12:46] <+codehead> hence the conservative exit there
[12:48] * +Time4now out 657.1
[12:49] <+Time4now> trying to milk one contract seems to be counterproductive
[12:55] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [12:58] <+Sidhartha> codehead, be interested to see what you think of zeroline trader...
[12:58] <+Sidhartha> I haven't tried it yet because still haven't funded my IB account...
[12:58] <+codehead> i took a look yesterday, may d/l and check it out over the weekend
[12:59] <+Sidhartha> ok. great. let me know if you can
[12:59] <+codehead> although... they might fall victim to trader technologies too
[12:59] <+codehead> "trading"
[12:59] <+Sidhartha> what do you mean by 'trading technologies'...?
[13:00] <+codehead> got some divergence, if NQ cant' break this out... otherwise will be in another bull run
[13:35] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 658.90 -> small size
[13:35] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[13:40] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 659.20 --> + 0.3
[13:45] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 658.70 -> small size
[13:45] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[13:59] <@wrbtrader> Exited 1/2 TF Long @ 659.80 --> + 1.1
[14:00] <+Sidhartha> very patient wrbtrader
[14:00] <+Sidhartha> I was long at the same time... couldn't last that long!
[14:00] <@wrbtrader> That's the "antibiotics" the doctor has given me...it makes me lethargic.
[14:01] <+codehead> hehe
[14:01] <@wrbtrader> Simply, I'm very at piece with the market today :)
[14:01] <@wrbtrader> piece = peace
[14:02] <@wrbtrader> Just joking...only side affect from the antibiotics is increased toilet time :(
[14:03] <+codehead> oh sid... didn't see your comment... trading technologies inc has a patent on the depth of market interface
[14:03] <+Sidhartha> for booktrader....?
[14:03] <+Sidhartha> can't be for any DOM...
[14:03] <+codehead> particularly the "static" variety
[14:04] <+codehead> where the price holds, and the bids/offers run up and down
[14:04] <+codehead> that's why on ninja, the static dom is free
[14:04] <+Sidhartha> right
[14:04] <+codehead> i meant dynamic is free
[14:04] <+codehead> and you have to pay royalties fro static
[14:05] <+Sidhartha> ummm... well, my infinity DOM does exaclty the same thing... as does Bracket Trader for IB and ZeroLine trader...
[14:05] <+Sidhartha> I don't pay anything... unless Infinity pay trading technologies
[14:05] <+codehead> well, they may not be big enough to be taken to court yet, i dunno
[14:06] <+codehead> trading technologies tried to get the exchanges to charge 2.5 cents per trade
[14:06] <+codehead> a few years back
[14:06] <+codehead> k, getting near res now
[14:07] <+codehead> ES has a band above 1105
[14:08] <+Sidhartha> crikey... i'm reading about it now. On Ninja if you want to trade on static super dom you have to pay TT 10c per side...
[14:08] <+Sidhartha> that's outrageous...
[14:08] <+codehead> yeah
[14:09] <+codehead> PFG's dom, the bids and offers disappear when the mouse gets over them
[14:09] <+codehead> horrid, but apparently they do it to keep TT off their back
[14:09] <+codehead> oil rocking
[14:09] <@wrbtrader> Exited Remainder TF Long @ 661.70 --> + 3
[14:10] <+codehead> nice
[14:10] <@wrbtrader> Just in time to watch some world cup soccer
[14:10] <+Sidhartha> That patent has got to challenged in court... there are simply too many people using a static DOM outside of TT
[14:11] <+codehead> seems there should be prior art, but i've never looked into it
[14:12] <+Sidhartha> for a start, as someone just said on a discussion forum, people will just code DOM's in C++ and distribute them for free on the net...
[14:12] <+Sidhartha> it's the hardest code to write
[14:12] <+Sidhartha> not
[14:17] <+codehead> now hitting res on all three...
[14:17] <+codehead> NQ YM ES that is
[14:17] <+codehead> but strong trend
[14:18] <+codehead> better res on NQ is up 5 more
[14:19] <+codehead> 4-4.50
[14:19] <+codehead> above 1107 is 1111.25
[14:20] <+codehead> 1117.50, 1120.75
[14:22] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [14:27] <+codehead> ES hit into June 4 peak, huge selloff day
[14:27] <+codehead> tapped it
[14:51] <+Sidhartha> if i miss any more trades today... jeez
[14:51] <+Sidhartha> almost every trade i've tried to get into has run away from me
[14:51] <+Sidhartha> need to be more aggressive I guess
[14:53] <+codehead> these days are tough for me--grind in one direction
[14:53] <+codehead> i see what i think is an entry long...
[14:53] <+Sidhartha> well, Brazil aren't looking too good...
[14:53] <+codehead> then think about stop... and know that if it pulls back more it's still a buy, so where to put a stop?
[14:53] <+codehead> lol
[14:54] <+codehead> and after one short today, small gain, i realized it wasn't time to short
[14:54] <+Sidhartha> no
[14:54] <+Sidhartha> shorting today is a dangerous game
[14:54] <+codehead> so, no trades
[14:54] <+Sidhartha> the number of longs that have run away from me...
[14:54] <+Sidhartha> you know when you an entry bar, and the first tick of the next bar is the only time they share a price...
[14:55] <+Sidhartha> that has happened to me a lot today
[14:55] <+Sidhartha> get
[14:55] <+codehead> ic
[14:55] <+Sidhartha> so you are chasing straight away
[15:00] <+Inertia> sid , from what u wrote u r entering on a LIMIT . is that correct?
[15:02] <+Sidhartha> I have been... yes
[15:02] <+Sidhartha> sometimes it works for me
[15:02] <+Sidhartha> stops me being too aggressive... what I haven't quite got the hang of yet, is knowing when you SHOULD b aggressive
[15:02] <+Sidhartha> be
[15:05] <+Sidhartha> just happened to me AGAIN
[15:07] <+Sidhartha> I guess on trend days, you gotta be aggressive
[15:08] <+Sidhartha> that's what I've learned!
[15:10] <+Inertia> at what point during a trend day, do u know that it is a trend day?
[15:11] <+Sidhartha> a question I never yet worked the answer out to...
[15:18] <+Sidhartha> i guess it depends on your definition of a trend day...
[15:19] <+Sidhartha> for example, if you look at the number of bars that close above the previous bars high... and that number has to be >than say 35% of the day to be a trend day
[15:19] <+Sidhartha> I have never calculated this.. so I picked 35% out of the air... that number may need to be higher or lower... I have no idea
[15:19] <+Sidhartha> I'm talking about a bull trend obviously
[15:23] <+Inertia> y
[15:24] <+Inertia> some people look at smaller bars overall as an indication of a trend
[15:25] <+Inertia> or not too many tick extremes
[15:25] <+Inertia> but everything is relative
[15:26] <+codehead> NQ tapped 18974
[15:26] <+Sidhartha> yup
[15:27] <+Sidhartha> it's an interesting one... maybe I'll do some investigation...
[15:27] <+codehead> mentioned earlier, was my first major res, 1894.00-.50
[15:27] <+codehead> then gap fill 1897.75
[15:36] <+Time4now> seeya people
[15:37] <+codehead> boy, if you bought the pb to 20ma all day on NQ, you'd be a happy camper (5 min)
[15:37] <+codehead> of course that's easy to say when if you bought anywhere, you'd be a happy camper
[15:38] <+codehead> cept for possible stress on pullbacks if you in fact "bought anywhere"
[15:38] <+codehead> 20 ma, didn't get past it more than a couple ticks each time
[15:44] <+Sidhartha> anyone in here use pivots...?
[15:44] <+Sidhartha> I know yingyang does... but he's not here...

-------------------------

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods and different perspective of the markets. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. More information about #FuturesTrades @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/FuturesTradesChatRoom.htm

Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
