#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

[10:50] <+Inertia> looks like a X3 bottom if we don't go through it but who knows

[11:53] <JimL> gabe: when you get a minute, could you define your definition of "$TICK trend reversal"? I monitor $Tick & use it, I like to understand all similar methods to improve effectiveness.Also, what interval do you use to monitor $Tick?
[12:01] <+gabe> Hi Jim - I watch the 1 min $TICk chart with TradeStation with zero line added and the TrendCatcher paintbar added to help confirm reversal
[12:26] <codehead> YM tapped .382... 9825 is .500
[12:26] <+codehead> 9840 is also a symmetry, as is 9825
[12:27] <+codehead> i stepped away at the wrong time, was going to try 9842 for a scalp
[12:27] <+codehead> 9785 is .786 and a very nice symmetry--wouldn't want to see Ym below that
[12:28] <+codehead> for longs
[12:28] <+codehead> same with 1777-.50 for NQ
[12:42] <+codehead> that .82 on YM was a goodie
[12:42] <+codehead> .382
[12:48] <+codehead> NQ tapped .500
[12:48] <+codehead> 1786.00
[13:18] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [14:12] <+pat255> trens still s side but up moves have been vicious
[14:15] <+codehead> NQ divergent, battle here
[14:15] <+codehead> YM didn't pull back as much on the retest try
[14:17] <+codehead> my long frame NQ is at a spot where it could roll over to buy side
[14:22] <+Inertia> if markets close @ 4 and 4:15 PM EST, they will move in a definite direction tomorrow
[14:23] <+codehead> thanks for that, most helpful
[14:23] <+Inertia> :))
[14:23] <+codehead> i don't think you get it
[14:23] <+Inertia> i am influenced by the popular comedy show on the CNBC channel
[14:24] <+codehead> if bottom held there, longer frame was poised to reverse
[14:24] <+codehead> if it was in the middle of dumpsville, the ideo would be to avoid longs
[14:24] <+codehead> idea
[14:24] <+Inertia> maybe
[14:24] <+Inertia> but people are scared and there is nothing but bad news
[14:24] <+Inertia> why would the market go up?
[14:24] <+codehead> then don't trade
[14:25] <+Inertia> why not? I can short...
[14:25] <+Inertia> idea
[14:25] <+codehead> i just went up 15 points
[14:25] <+codehead> it
[14:25] <+codehead> do you not understand that short term traders take--wait for it--short term moves???
[14:25] <+Inertia> i hope u were in
[14:27] <+codehead> personally, i don't hold all day, nor overnight, so to just say "we're going down, be short--how would you like to have been short in the 30 point NQ bounce earlier
[14:27] <+codehead> ?
[14:27] <+codehead> or the 100 points Ym bounce?
[14:27] <+Inertia> I think I had my AHA moment about 3-4 weeks ago
[14:28] <+Inertia> to answer your question, I would have loved to be in all the winning trades but as we know it , it is impossible - so 60% is great for me
[14:28] <+Inertia> the aha moment was nothing earth shattering
[14:29] <+Inertia> if market goes down >> short. If market goes up >> long. sounds simple and stupid and trivial but how many do that?
[14:30] <+codehead> i disagree
[14:31] <+Inertia> and I bet with you that if I showed u what I do you would not do it , or at least most people would not
[14:31] <+codehead> i've made great trade buying the dump, selling the pop
[14:31] <+Inertia> I don't doubt that you did
[14:31] <+Inertia> i did 2
[14:31] <+codehead> in fact, in John Carter's book, he said his staple trade is fading tick extremes
[14:31] <+Inertia> but I lost more than I made overall
[14:31] <+Inertia> i read the book
[14:31] <+Inertia> liked it
[14:31] <+codehead> pretty decent book, yes
[14:32] <+codehead> well, i've figured out somethign that works for me, over the past few months
[14:32] <+codehead> i trade in the direction of what i call my "long frame"
[14:32] <+codehead> i have a tick chart that i take the trades on
[14:32] <+codehead> and another 4x the ticks, which i use for direciton
[14:33] <+codehead> on potential bottoms, i want to see *at least* that the long frame is poised to turn back up
[14:33] <+codehead> and that's what i was talking about earlier
[14:34] <+Inertia> if u found something that works 4 u and u can use it live than congratulations. I simply cannot pull the trigger in my live trades. In sim I am making a killing everyday but live is a different story
[14:35] <+Inertia> which is a big improvement compared with my sim trading from 2-3 months ago where I was losing even in sim
[14:35] <+Inertia> maybe farther back than that
[14:36] <+Inertia> i noticed that if i don't read what people do in the room I am doing much better.
[14:36] <+codehead> well, some people use moving averages to keep them in the "right" direction, but for me, price is too far away form a safe entry by the time moving averages indicate a change in direction
[14:36] <+Inertia> we spoke about this a few days ago
[14:36] <+codehead> yes
[14:37] <+Inertia> I use a moving average exactly for that purpose and yes, it is lagging but there are still many opportunities in the direction of the MA
[14:38] <+Inertia> probably the next level is to eliminate the MA altogether but I am not there yet
[14:39] <+Inertia> the good thing about the market is that there is room for everyone
[14:45] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [14:46] <+codehead> here's my long frame NQ:
[14:46] <+codehead> http://gallery.me.com/codehead#100078
[14:47] <+codehead> note the macd dots after hitting 1800
[14:47] <+codehead> the idea is you are looking for shorts that whole time
[14:47] <+pat255> code what tf it is? 5m?
[14:48] <+codehead> now, at the bottom, ris rolls out of extremes, we get a couple of reversal dots, we get a low retest... pretty obvious if it can't break that low, the macd indicator will roll up to buy side
[14:48] <+codehead> anyway, that's my direciton indicator
[14:48] <+codehead> note how i had no interest in long NQ till the bottom
[14:49] <+codehead> the red dots stayed on the low side of the bollinger bands, was nver a buy that whole time
[14:49] <+codehead> 30 point move down off the high
[14:49] <+Inertia> nice
[14:49] <+Inertia> chart looks clean
[14:49] <+codehead> just showing what is working for me, in terms of determining whether to look for longs or shorts
[14:50] <+codehead> i always had problems with that in the past
[14:50] <+pat255> thks code ...what tf is the chart?
[14:50] <+Inertia> so we r on the same page
[14:50] <+gabe> Shorts TF @ 614.10
[14:50] <+codehead> it helps me avoid a bias
[14:50] <+gabe> late
[14:50] <+codehead> yes, i think so
[14:51] <+codehead> then i have a similar chart but one-fourth the number of ticks per bar
[14:51] <+codehead> for instance, it had a large divergence on the low retest, where this chart was making a try at turning
[14:52] <+codehead> that's the one i use for entry, and i only look countertrend when the bigger frame is likely to change direction
[14:52] <+codehead> never when it's in the strong red-not trend down that you see
[14:52] <+gabe> Covered all TF Short @ 612.10 --> + 2
[14:52] <+codehead> if i can't find a short, i'll just let market continue to melt down
[14:54] <+Inertia> that is the tough part but it is also the answer to profitability
[14:54] <+Inertia> waiting for a trade
[14:55] <+Inertia> or watching the market go without you
[14:58] <+codehead> 9849 is .382
[14:58] <+codehead> it's stalling there...
[14:59] <@wrbtrader> support failure
[14:59] <+Inertia> ~610.5 is my support area
[15:00] <+pat255> looks like last hour sell off as suual
[15:01] <+Inertia> maybe the PPT will come 2 the rescue
[15:02] * +Time4now long tf 611
[15:03] <+codehead> dow the strongest today, best chance of green close
[15:07] <+Inertia> Long TF @ 612.4 «« simulator »»
[15:08] * +Time4now out 611.1
[15:11] <+Inertia> Exited 1/2 TF Long @ 612.6 --> + 0.2 «« simulator »»
[15:13] <+Inertia> Exited Remainder TF Long @ 610.8 --> - 1.6 «« simulator »»
[15:15] <@wrbtrader> $VXX just broke out of a very tough contracting volatility
[15:15] <+Inertia> Shorts TF @ 610.8 «« simulator »»
[15:16] <+pat255> S 50.25 ES paper
[15:16] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 610.30 -> small size
[15:17] <+Inertia> Covered 1/2 TF Short @ 609.6 --> + 1.2 «« simulator »»
[15:17] <@wrbtrader> intuition trade
[15:18] <+Inertia> Covered Remainder TF Short @ 609.5 --> + 1.3 «« simulator »»
[15:20] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 610.10 --> + 0.2
[15:22] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 610.10 -> small size
[15:22] <@wrbtrader> 3 only
[15:23] <@wrbtrader> Exited 2/3 TF Long @ 611.20 --> + 1.1
[15:23] <@wrbtrader> trailing @ profit
[15:25] <@wrbtrader> Exited Remainder TF Long @ 610.30 --> + 0.2
[15:28] <@wrbtrader> 612.80 was the profit target of the prior trade :(
[15:30] <+Time4now> breaking through a bit of resistance
[15:31] <+codehead> Ym broke out
[15:32] <+Inertia> the train left the station without me :(
[15:33] <+Inertia> but i had no signal
[15:34] <+Inertia> Long TF @ 613.3 «« simulator »»
[15:35] <+Inertia> juat bored. should not have taken that trade
[15:36] <+Inertia> Exited 1/2 TF Long @ 613.9 --> + 0.6 «« simulator »»
[15:36] <+Inertia> Exited Remainder TF Long @ 613.9 --> + 0.6 «« simulator »»
[15:36] <+Time4now> I'd rather take a break if I'm bored
[15:36] <+Inertia> lucky brake
[15:37] <+Inertia> u r right
[15:37] <+Inertia> I was upset that i missed the big move
[15:37] <+Inertia> and now I am not happy that I got out of the trade :)
[15:45] <+Inertia> 5 points later ................................
[15:47] <@wrbtrader> resistance area developed
[15:48] <@wrbtrader> TF sitting above a prior resistance area also
[15:53] <+Time4now> If it will test some support and give me an entry signal then I'm long
[15:53] <+Inertia> not enough time to recover if I am wrong
[15:56] <+Inertia> 616.4 it good support
[15:56] <+Inertia> until it brakes
[16:03] <+Time4now> well I'm spent, seeya tomorrow
[16:15] <@wrbtrader> Take care and see all tomorrow

#FuturesTrades is free and is a serious professional trading chat room in which any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies. Simply, you don't need to be a client of TheStrategyLab.com to use the chat room nor do you need to be a price action only trader (no indicators) because some members use indicators while others do not.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods and different perspective of the markets. To gain access to #FuturesTrades...please follow the instructions at the below link.

http://www.thestrategylab.com/ftchat/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

The purpose of #FuturesTrades is that it's designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day.

Further, members are not obligated to educate nor help other members but members are encourage to ask questions about any trades or market commentaries that's posted by others.

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.
