#FuturesTrades is free along with being a serious professional trading chat room and any trader can use the chat room to post their trades or commentaries involving futures, exchange traded funds or forex currencies.

This is not a signal calling chat room nor is the chat room designed to be educational. #FuturesTrades is designed to be a trade journal for documentation purposes only so that members can have a time stamp archive of trades and market commentaries of each trading day so that they can better understand their broker statements from one trade to the next trade when they review their performance numbers on any given trading day. Yet, you will see members providing useful trading tips that may or may not help with your trading.

Therefore, we welcome all traders with their own methods or different perspective of the markets as long as they do not violate our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy.

Thanks for reading the trades or market commentaries that's below and it's highly recommend you make reading of the logs a part of your trading routine because you will sometimes find useful trading tips not discussed anywhere else online nor in any books.

[09:27] * Now talking in #FuturesTrades
[09:27] <@X> [NihabaAshi] Announcement: The new trade posting script v3.7 (replaces v3.6) is posted at your forum in the "Announcements" thread.
[09:31] <stick2it> gm
[09:32] <@wrbtrader> Good morning all.
[09:32] <drt> gm
[09:33] <screenstruck> gm
[09:33] <Nesi> hi all
[09:34] <jbuch> good morning everyone
[09:34] <@wrbtrader> Expecting some volatility around the time FED Chairman Bernanke is speaking.
[09:35] <mo2t> hi all
[09:35] <rickf> gm all
[09:40] <@wrbtrader> FED Chairman Bernanke speaking around 11am est today...be careful in your trades around that time.
[09:41] <+drt> l es 08.50
[09:41] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 630.80 -> small size
[09:41] <@wrbtrader> 3 only
[09:41] <@wrbtrader> a ton of jumping around in that price area
[09:44] <@wrbtrader> Covered 2/3 TF Short @ 629.60 --> + 1.2
[09:44] <@wrbtrader> Covered Remainder TF Short @ 629.50 --> + 1.3
[09:45] <@wrbtrader> Crazy follow through although it was a little choppy going down...
[09:45] <@wrbtrader> Original trade signal to Short was 632.60
[09:46] <@wrbtrader> Missed it by a mile and decided to "chase" it down to see if it'll close the GAP
[09:46] <@wrbtrader> Also, I knew Bernanke was speaking this morning and the markets are usually "jittery" when he's going to speak...
[09:46] <@wrbtrader> Can catch one good directional price movement.
[09:49] <@wrbtrader> Here's a SPY charts of some key levels for SPY today...notice the top level SPY hit a wall within today @ http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachmen ... id=2740917
[09:50] <@wrbtrader> Sometimes I'll use key levels in other trading instruments to help me with trades in the Russell 2000 Emini TF...I used SPY on that trade.
[09:52] <@wrbtrader> You should notice now that SPY is testing one of those key levels on that chart.
[09:52] <TraderG> your link does not work
[09:52] <+TraderG> at least not 4 me
[09:52] <@wrbtrader> Works for me.
[09:52] <+screenstruck> works here
[09:53] <@wrbtrader> TraderG...don't know why...someone else just said the same via pm.
[09:54] <+TraderG> i switched to IE 8 and since then it is hell but I cannot go back to 6
[09:55] <@wrbtrader> Ahh...IE 8...I have an IT friend saying it's the worse.
[09:55] <+TraderG> can u post the link to the page on ET not the link to the chart
[09:55] <werner> thnx for the chart wrbtrader
[09:58] <@wrbtrader> No problem...I know a few in here that trade SPY but don't post such trades :)
[09:58] <+TraderG> transfered the link to a comp with IE6 >>> no problems
[09:58] <@wrbtrader> Trying to encourage them to come "out of the closet".
[10:00] <+drt> cl es 07.50
[10:01] <+TraderG> apparently IE8 does not support opacity
[10:02] <TLancer> that was quite a selling flush
[10:10] * codehead_afk is now known as codehead
[10:14] <codehead> hm, why are indices showing only 5 bid/ask mkt depth?
[10:15] <+codehead> cept for YM 10
[10:15] <+screenstruck> depends on your platform setting
[10:15] <@X> #FuturesTrades Info -> No gurus, no head traders. [10:15] <+codehead> well, it hasn't changed
[10:15] <+screenstruck> i see 10 on ES and 20 on TF
[10:15] <+codehead> plus, YM = 10, other 5
[10:16] <+codehead> ok, must be IB
[10:17] <+mo2t> codehead: infinity, YMH0 about 10 - 80 on one price
[10:21] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 631.80 -> small size
[10:21] <@wrbtrader> 1 only
[10:22] <@wrbtrader> hmmm...already don't like the trade :(
[10:23] <@wrbtrader> Exited TF Long @ 632.10 --> + 0.3
[10:24] <@wrbtrader> sidelined until around 1045am est to see if there will be a 2nd wave of volatility to the pending FED Chairman Bernanke speech.
[10:24] <+TLancer> nice workout WRB, i had signal @ 631, but these moves are very messing & jettery today
[10:25] <@wrbtrader> Yeah...I have a term for this type of jittery stuff..."Pin Ball Machine Price Action".
[10:25] <+mo2t> :)
[10:32] <+TLancer> this one of those plodding upmoves that looks sickening after the fact & too difficult to join
[10:35] <+rickf> short es 1108
[10:43] <+rickf> exit es 1107.75 +.25
[10:44] <+rickf> still looking lower but taking too long
[10:44] <+rickf> plus heading out in a few mins anyway
[10:49] <+TLancer> every retracmnt gets slowly rebought & never breaks down for short separation, getting another rollover now, let's see what develps for lower highs
[10:50] <+rickf> bingo
[10:50] <+rickf> murphys law :(
[10:51] <+TLancer> cl & gc just brioke dwn hard while typing maybe different this time
[10:51] <+TLancer> i got lulled into complaceny :<
[10:52] <+rickf> bbl
[10:58] <+TLancer> too slow/too conservative to catch the lwr high :<
[11:02] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 632.00 -> small size
[11:02] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[11:03] <@wrbtrader> tough trade with the volatility all dried up
[11:06] <@wrbtrader> can't get greedy when volatility is this shallow
[11:07] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 631.60 --> + 0.4
[11:08] <@wrbtrader> This could be the start of "increasing volatility" but I have no confirmation that FED Chairman Bernanke is speaking now :(
[11:12] <+TraderG> he is talking on Wednesday and Thursday
[11:13] <@wrbtrader> Yes...those days too
[11:13] <+TraderG> where did u get it that he talks 2day?
[11:13] <@wrbtrader> http://fidweek.econoday.com/
[11:13] <@wrbtrader> However, I just looked again...it's been "updated".
[11:14] <@wrbtrader> They removed his speakd for today and added "Janet Yellen Speaks".
[11:14] <@wrbtrader> Most likely a cancelation or something.
[11:14] <+TraderG> ok that explains why i could not c him
[11:14] <+TraderG> i have the same calendar from Barron's
[11:15] <@wrbtrader> That's the thing about those speaches...the get added or removed the same day sometimes.
[11:15] <@wrbtrader> Reason why I like to listen to CNBC or Bloomberg for confirmation when the expected time arives.
[11:15] <@wrbtrader> If there's not "volatility spike" at the expected time...
[11:16] <@wrbtrader> I get suspecious that something has been cancelled.
[11:17] <@wrbtrader> Now that I know there's nothing to spark the markets right now...
[11:17] <@wrbtrader> Good time to watching some Olympics :)
[11:18] <@wrbtrader> Be back around 1230pm est after lunch and some Olympic Games watching
[11:18] * wrbtrader is now known as wrbtrader_away
[11:32] <+codehead> IB now showing 10x10 mkt depth--i reported it earlier

[11:50] <+jbuch> Long ES @ 1105.75
[11:54] <+jbuch> Exited all ES Long @ 1104.75 --> - 1
[12:05] <+TraderG> 3 ticks slipage on IWM = 3 ticks on TF. Is this normal?
[12:10] <+rickf> back
[12:15] <+mo2t> hi all, end today
[12:22] <+rickf> short here looks nice but too slow a tape to be comfortable
[12:22] <Jumbo123> es is in a triangle
[12:22] <+Jumbo123> should break down
[12:25] <+rickf> very well might but i dont like calling tops/bottoms
[12:25] <+rickf> and besides 'tis lunchtime and imho horrible time to trade
[12:25] <+rickf> at least w/my own money lol
[12:38] <+Jumbo123> triangle break up
[12:40] <+TraderG> <rickf> very well might but i dont like calling tops/bottoms - why not? If you call them they might come.
[12:41] <+rickf> this ain't Tape of Dreams :)
[12:44] <+TraderG> I was thinking (an interesting experience) Mondays usually have no news. Does that make them into narrow range days?
[12:45] <+rickf> dunno ... market's been kinda goofy past week or so anyway
[12:45] <+TraderG> I am talking LONG TERM mondays
[12:45] <+rickf> oh
[12:45] <+TraderG> statistically speaking
[12:45] <+TraderG> to c whether there is an edge in this idea or not

[13:10] <+jbuch> Exited all ES Long @ 1106.25 --> + 0.5

[13:53] <@wrbtrader> Hey guys...in the past month I've been to various chat rooms on the Othernet and FinancialChat servers that has > 15 members.
[13:54] <@wrbtrader> I came across at least 10 rooms where NOT A SINGLE word was said all day.
[13:54] <@wrbtrader> Thus, why do folks do that...seems like a wast of time to me ???
[13:55] <@wrbtrader> Kind'uv reminded me of an old eSignal room here on IRC...
[13:56] <@wrbtrader> There was +80 members and not a single word until eSignal went down.
[13:56] <@wrbtrader> Folks were always yelling at the moderator on those rare days.
[13:56] <+rickf> werid
[13:57] <@wrbtrader> One day the moderator saids (he spoke for the first time) he doesn't even use eSignal.
[13:57] <@wrbtrader> He said he logged in one day to ask questions and the @ was slapped on his username.
[13:57] <@wrbtrader> He didn't know how to get rid of it :)
[13:58] <+rickf> hehe
[13:58] <Hen> I guess they were glued to the charts and watching every tick, afraid to look away.
[13:58] <+Hen> the chat room #daytraders probably has the most conversation during the day
[13:58] <@wrbtrader> Yeah...after a few days you gotta be smart to stop visiting a ghost town.
[13:59] <+rickf> i only log in here ... it is a mature place, not a lot of noise, and besides, i don't need a lot of banter or chit-chat normally :)
[14:02] <@wrbtrader> Key markets today have settled into a "low volatility trading range".
[14:05] <@X> #FuturesTrades Purpose -> Members use this room to document (trade journal) their trades and thoughts from one trade to the next trade because it provides critical information they can't get from broker statements nor statistics. [14:06] <@wrbtrader> What prompt those observation is that over the weekend someone said "#futurestrades is not that active".
[14:06] <@wrbtrader> :)
[14:07] <+rickf> fwiw saying i like it like ths ;)
[14:07] <@wrbtrader> Me too
[14:07] <+codehead> has about the right level of activity, imo
[14:11] <+codehead> boy, got up late today, but in time for the bounce high and all my signal said sell it, regret being timid, pretty slow since
[14:14] <+TraderG> <rickf> i only log in here ... it is a mature place, Mature? what about that TraderG with his off beat remarks?
[14:14] <+rickf> yeah yeah
[14:14] <+rickf> the room is mature, didn't say anything about its members ;)
[14:14] <+rickf> nyuk nyuk
[14:14] <+TraderG> :)))))
[14:15] <@wrbtrader> Energies are in the news today after the big drop from the open down to around 1115am est.
[14:15] <+TraderG> rickf 1 TraderG 0
[14:15] <@wrbtrader> I'm going to post a chart of OIH here soon.
[14:15] <@wrbtrader> Key volatility levels to watch
[14:16] <+TraderG> what are you guys doing between trades? As I am becoming more disciplined (sitting on my hands) I find that I am ready to climb on a wall from boredom.
[14:16] <+rickf> i'm trying to write a thesis abstract ;)
[14:17] <+TraderG> so do u have audiable alerts when price gets close to your targets?
[14:17] <+jbuch> Iam bidding a 300000 dollar framing job :)
[14:20] <+jbuch> Long ES @ 1107.5
[14:22] <@wrbtrader> Here's OIH...it's part of my "intermarket analysis" of key markets to help me spot volatility changes
[14:22] <+jbuch> hmm big vol spike on that
[14:22] <@wrbtrader> http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachmen ... id=2741347
[14:24] <+codehead> it's right at .500 here (OIH)
[14:24] <+codehead> fwiw
[14:24] <@wrbtrader> :)
[14:24] <+codehead> b reaking out
[14:25] <@wrbtrader> I'll use those key zones highlighted in "pacific blue" until price traverses through them.
[14:27] <+jbuch> Exited all ES Long @ 1108.25 --> + 0.75
[14:27] <@wrbtrader> Here's some twitter discussions today about OIH @ http://www.stocktwits.com/t/OIH
[14:28] <@wrbtrader> In case anybody is wondering why I'm posting charts at EliteTrader.com even though I have my own forum or can post them directly on twitter...
[14:29] <+codehead> if NQ can break out 1820, 1824.50-25.00 level above
[14:29] <@wrbtrader> I recently persuaded Baron to put a "share this thread" code at his forum EliteTrader.com
[14:30] <+codehead> USO pulled back to flat on the day here at oil close
[14:30] <@wrbtrader> I can now post directly to my twitter account any messages, chart attachments or threads I've participated within. It allows me to see stats on the links being clicked.
[14:31] <+rickf> yeah was wondering why the sudden twitter-storm ... good stuff
[14:32] <@wrbtrader> For example, that link I recently posted involving the chart posted at EliteTrader.com
[14:32] <@wrbtrader> Currently, most from the U.S. (+10) while the rest (+9) are spam bots testing ET
[14:33] <@wrbtrader> That tells me almost 1/2 of my charts being clicked on at ET aren't even a real person :)
[14:34] <+rickf> the bots like you...
[14:34] <@wrbtrader> I'm real...I think :)
[14:34] <+rickf> ;)
[14:38] <+TLancer> Long TF @ 632 «« simulator »»
[14:38] <+TLancer> 1
[14:44] <+TLancer> Exited all TF Long @ 632.1 --> + 0.1 «« simulator »»

[14:56] <+rickf> melting-out breakout
[14:57] <+rickf> onyl 1m contracts moving today? it's 1500
[14:57] <+jbuch> i missed the am session and everything else has been crap
[15:10] <+TLancer> Shorts TF @ 632.2 «« simulator »»

[15:21] <@wrbtrader> I got burnt on some memory sticks too a few months ago...
[15:21] <@wrbtrader> From China :(
[15:21] <+TraderG> it was so cheap that the loss if any would be minimal
[15:21] <@wrbtrader> They lasted about a week.
[15:22] <+TraderG> this one says that the data is there but it is not.
[15:22] <+TraderG> it probably overwrites some older data
[15:22] <+TraderG> I saw 1 file 4 times :))
[15:22] <+TraderG> in different folders
[15:23] <+TraderG> if this continues the west has nothing to worry about the Chineese
[15:23] <+TraderG> if they will want something that works they will have 2 buy it from the west
[15:23] <+mo2t> Exited all YM Long @ 10395 --> + 1
[15:26] <+jbuch> Shorts ES @ 1109.5
[15:27] <+TLancer> 4th time up here in 633 area for tf, 3rd time for es let's have some action i'm bored to death

[15:32] <+jbuch> at the up trendline
[15:34] <+jbuch> peeking below it
[15:41] <+jbuch> Covered all ES Short @ 1108.5 --> + 1
[15:42] <+jbuch> dangit
[15:43] <+rickf> short es 1107.25
[15:45] <+rickf> exit half 1106 +1.25
[15:45] <+TLancer> Covered 2/3 TF Short @ 630.6 --> + 1.6 «« simulator »»
[15:46] <+mo2t> YM has one disadvantage - 1 point (BE plus 1) cover only broker fee (5 USD). YM and ES have small advantage ;)
[15:46] <+mo2t> sorry TF and ES
[15:48] <+TLancer> Covered Remainder TF Short @ 630.8 --> + 1.4 «« simulator »»
[15:49] <@wrbtrader> Shorts TF @ 630.50 -> small size
[15:49] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[15:49] <@wrbtrader> trying to rollover
[15:49] <@wrbtrader> intuition
[15:57] <@wrbtrader> Covered all TF Short @ 630.50 --> 0
[15:57] <+rickf> exit es remainder 1105.25 +2
[15:57] <@wrbtrader> Houdini escape out of the volatility chop
[15:57] <+rickf> now watch it roll
[15:59] <@wrbtrader> there was a weak support upon entry into that Short I had...
[15:59] <@wrbtrader> However, it slowly started getting stronger.
[15:59] <@wrbtrader> Long TF @ 631.00 -> small size
[15:59] <@wrbtrader> 2 only
[16:02] <+jbuch> well that was one crappy day
[16:02] <+mo2t> one missed trade, one BE. Im happy
[16:02] <@wrbtrader> Exited all TF Long @ 631.50 --> + 0.5
[16:03] <@wrbtrader> I didn't like that "low volatility range" that showed up earlier...reason why I took a long lunch, watch some Olympics and do some forum posts at different forums. :)
[16:03] <@wrbtrader> Thus, took it easy today.
[16:06] <+mo2t> so good evening to America, Im going sleep here in night Europe
[16:06] <+rickf> nite mo2t

In addition, our primary job in the free chat room is to moderate the room (keep the peace) because with so many members using different methods along with different opinions about the market...debates or arguments can easily flare up without moderating. In addition, our presence in the chat room is to ensure it's a spam free chat room during trading although these archived chat logs may contain advertisments for guest visitors. More information about #FuturesTrades @ http://www.thestrategylab.com/FuturesTradesChatRoom.htm

Also, to prevent the usual mix-up about our different chat rooms, most of our fee-base clients do not use chat rooms just like most retail traders do not use chat rooms. Yet, the few clients that do use chat rooms, our fee-base clients are discussing market analysis or trade signals via concepts from our strategies in the private chat rooms called #VolatilityTradingTSL or #SwingTradingTSL and they're not allowed to do such in #FuturesTrades.

Reminder, our Terms of Use (TOU) Policy is a must read to prevent any misunderstandings along with revealing that #FuturesTrades is a serious professional trading chat room and we expect members to act professional. Also, these logs may have been edited (rarely) to remove any messages that a member has complained to me via private message that they consider a particular commentary to be inappropriate, offending or too far in the off topic area that's a distraction when the commentary was posted.

Note: All logs regardless to their location at TheStrategyLab.com website are eastern standard time.

Best Regards,
M.A. Perry
