#FuturesTrades December 1st Friday 2006 Trade Log

#FuturesTrades is a private and free realtime trading posting chat room on the IRC Othernet server that allows traders from all over the world to communicate.

Click here for the instructions on gaining access to #FuturesTrades.

In addition, trades posted by members of #FuturesTrades in the below trade post chat log are by traders that do not have access to TheStrategyLab.com strategies except for NihabaAshi.

Fee-based clients of TheStrategyLab.com strategies use the private IRC rooms called #TheStrategyLab and #SwingTradingTSL.

Further, you'll find below the chat room time stamped text log of realtime trades (real money and simulator) that were posted by full-time, part-time traders from around the world and the timestamp is eastern standard time (est).

Also, below NihabaAshi's trading blog like comments, you can read the time stamped trades (prices, entries, exits et cetera) and market discussions that sometimes contains trading tips or insights that are more useful than what you will see at any other futures blog or chat room.

Trading Blog Below is not your traditional trader's blog in the usual blog format. However, you will find informative commentary on a few occasions as time permits and such will contain trading tips that should help your trading as I attempt to sum up my thoughts for the trading day.

Note: Each month there are a few trading days that we consider to involve interconnecting key price action of different markets and such is represented by a particular type of price action from one of the key markets. You can view the charts and their clues that's associated with the key price action at our key market archives.

<les>  exit stop lowered ER2 @ 781.6
<ItalianSharp> fellas, be careful in trading longs today...the fundamental outlook on the us economy looks gloomy and this move is not a fake breakout...its driven by fundamentals...the 10am data are basically saying that the us economy is slowing down and there even are inflation worries...the combination of these two data is the worst the market wanted to hear today...10:12
<les> good job i'm short in that case :))10:13
<pat255> yes
<les> hoping i'm lucky enough to ride out the pullbacks10:14

<ItalianSharp> well done les...besides the money, the nice thing about these trades is that they are almost stress-free...you just watch it go in yr direction nice and slow...10:42
<RussellDaytrade>  Long ER2 @ 776.2 «« paper »»
<ItalianSharp> US 10 year yields down 5.1 bps at 4.407%10:44
<Brutus> Nice long RD, took the same, got myself back to BE.10:49
<RussellDaytrade> looking for 778, new targets 780 by 9:10 mnt, or approx 20 minutes from now10:50

Exited all ER2 Long @ 777.2 --> + 1 «« paper »» 10:51

got shaken out, i think10:52

market pulled back to Tuesdays breakout zone. right now is the point when trend changers start shifting from 'trend down', to 'trend up', in think10:56

good trading brut. i placed an order for 1766.75 nq, it was at 1766.75 offered, dropped to 1766.5 offered, and still got no fill.10:58
<Brutus> Are these live trades now RD10:59
<RussellDaytrade> that one was going to be. i want to trade the nq to get accustomed to holding the trades longer, then apply the process to er.11:01

instinctually, it it almost the best tell possible when the broker gives you no fill, that prices are most likely to move in the favorable direction. have to improve my response/reaction time, and those may be the most opportune times to actually chase the price, from my perspective.11:05
<Brutus> Good RD. Wow look at ES
<jperl> whose your broker RD
<RussellDaytrade> the nq and es just achieved model targets, er fell short by a buck11:06
IB
<jperl> I haven't had any trouble with fills this morning
<RussellDaytrade> first time that has occured. i have lnt orders set as defaulat, happy with that all in all.11:07
Long ER2 @ 776.7 «« paper »» 11:09
<jperl> looks like a bounce off of -1st std dev11:10
<RussellDaytrade>  Exited all ER2 Long @ 777.5 --> + 0.8 «« paper »»
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)11:13
<asuni> but his secret name (only known in this room ) is DAX
<RussellDaytrade>  Long ER2 @ 778.4 «« paper »» 11:15
<Brutus> 12 point range on the ES, but I'm thinking sideways and down into lunch11:22
<RussellDaytrade>  Long ER2 @ 776.2 -> Add «« paper »»
<les> i take back what i said about u missing this move11:26
life & lives r always more important
<pat255> ues les mkt will here next week...
<Brutus> RD 775 stops are close
<les> hope u dont get too many sleepless nights in next few weeks

i got loads other stuff to do today, so gonna sign off for the w/end11:27

i guess i should be satisfied with one killer trade today :)11:28

cya all monday
<ItalianSharp> bye les11:29
<Brutus> Cu Les, nice trading.
<RussellDaytrade> this is a 'damage-control' trade brut. went outside my usual balliwick, and tried a more aggresive trade initiation. am more accustomed to buying into the falling-knife scenarios, in fact, that is my preferred style.11:30
Exited 1/2 ER2 Long @ 776. --> - 0.2 «« paper »» 11:31
i am thinking it feels like not enough downside momentun to take out 775 right now.11:33
<szubaark> market needs to digest this Quick, Sudden hard to catch Drop11:34
<Brutus> I have a rule to take some profits at +1, which you had a chance on the last11:35
<szubaark> brutus when u going Live?
<Brutus> I sometimes enter the order in advance as ER can spike fast and you can get a fill11:36
<RussellDaytrade> new targets setups, 780, 1780, 1399, all in approx 35-40 minutes from now.
<ItalianSharp> szu, according to what niha says, november is a tough trading month for volatility...this partially explains this sudden rises and drops in volatility recently
<Brutus> I should have done it on the first trade I posted and may have gotten a fill11:37
<szubaark> shows you how tough this crap is, most are paper trading. scared to put their cash on the line
<Brutus> But I was posting on here and was distracted at that second

Szu my trades are live, I just dont post all of them11:38
<RussellDaytrade> ok, i'm going for some breakfast, that is usually good for a nice move while away!11:39
<Brutus> When I do a trade and the heat is on I cant update adds so its not always accurate so I left it as paper11:40

I post PnL on ET under BoyBrutus if your interested.11:42
<RussellDaytrade> ok, that was good for a buck, shall i also go for lunch too?11:45
Exited all ER2 Long @ 779.2 --> + 0.8 «« paper »» 11:46
<Brutus> Hold that long for a home run RD
<RussellDaytrade> thx brut, gotta work on that.
ere and es targets virtually achieved just now, nq lagging11:47
<jperl> I'm done for the morning....here are the executions...11:48

http://charts.dacharts.com/2006-12-01/JP ERL_0112.png11:49

I made some booboo's on some of those losses11:50

Traders Accounting

As traders we must treat our trading like a business if we are to succeed as traders and as a business. Therefore, waiting till the last few weeks March to prepare for April's taxes is not good for your trading and could put extra stress on your trading during tax month or the months that follow if your one of those traders that filed an extension.. Therefore, its best to be on top of your taxes throughout the year and Traders Accounting is a great resource for such especially if you want to prevent penalties or an audit several years from now.

<RussellDaytrade> think they may build some basing without piecing 780, build some short base there, then attack thru later today.
piercing
<yo> hello all11:54
<RussellDaytrade> hi yo. i am interested in hearing your opinion and about your preffered trading style... profitable!11:56
looks they are stronger then i thought a couple of minutes ago11:57
<szubaark> [10:02] > now they retrace this drop all day? :)))11:58

Bastids :))
<RussellDaytrade>  Shorts ER2 @ 781.2 «« paper »» 11:59
Covered all ER2 Short @ 781.5 --> - 0.3 «« paper »» 12:01
<Brutus> Szu, Once ES broke 1396.75 on volume my bias was long12:02

Similar in some ways to 11/14/0612:04
<RussellDaytrade> i am anticipating there may be another drive up in which to sell into. i prefer those moments and instances when i fell stronger/strongest in my resolve, even if i am early/wrong-at-first, and am correct in the fianl analysis12:06
<Brutus> Look at the ES moves and ER, I may have to change back12:09

Even NQ lately is having large runs
<szubaark> Brutus what yur trading style?
<Brutus> Bit of everything, lately more scalping12:10

I use to be able to catch larger moves in the ES but ER shakes you out easily
<RussellDaytrade> es stronger today. i have a chart that has er es and nq on it. er nq tracking virtually identical, es stronger today
good place/time for as sneak attack to the upside about now.12:12
<jperl> hope so...i've been long since open of this 15 minute bar

will stay long if price action stays above VWAP, 779.7612:13
<RussellDaytrade> trade your plan.
<Brutus> JP what about the longs at 776 what was that based on? different to your normal style right?12:15
<jperl> let me look
I took a long at 776.70....12:18
<Brutus> 1200 Chicago Fed Pres Moskow 1345 Richmond Fed Pres Lacker12:19
<jperl> Is that the one you are referring to
<Brutus> Yes arount 11:30
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)12:25
<jperl> yes that was a buy because the open of the 15 minute bar was above the -1st std dev
<Brutus> OK dont most use 2 std dev ?12:30
<jperl> still in long from 12:00

I don't know what others use12:31

at 12:00 price was above vwap so I went long...

at 12:15 price was still above vwap so I scaled in 1 and exited 1 at b/e12:32

at 12:30 price was still above vwap so I scaled in again and exited 1 at b/e

I'm still long now12:33

I'll exit the trade if 15 min bar closed below VWAP
<Brutus> OK, thnaks12:35
<jperl> price action just dropped below VWAP, but there is still 7 1/2 minutes left in the trade12:36
<Brutus> my2cents 12-01-06 12:25 PM Time pivot 13:50, this guy is good so watch the time12:37
<jperl> 3 minutes left in this 15 minute bar and price action is hugging VWAP12:41

like a soft kitty
<Brutus> 1350 pivot time and 1345 Richmond Fed Pres Lacker
<jperl> bar closes just above VWAP so we will stick with the long12:44
* Retrieving #futurestrades modes...12:46
<jperl> 4 minutes to go for this bar12:55

bar close just above vwap...so still sticking with long12:59
<RussellDaytrade> you doing the right thing jp?13:04
<jperl> well I'm still in the long....trade looks like a loser
<RussellDaytrade> way to stay with it making a valiant effort to see if it would make a run. manage the trade, honor you stop.13:06
<jperl> so we will bail out of this long at the close of this bar....13:13

777.9013:14

Anyway that's how I play it now....13:15

still needs some refinement

I trade the 15 minute bars off the VWAP lines13:16

lines referring to VWAP and its std devs13:17
<RussellDaytrade> way to trade it jp. perhaps, if you have dynamic T&S, it may provide good clues when buying/selling pressure may be about to/influence price, and that can assist in hte trade managment.13:19
reading/interpreting the t&s 'scrolling speed', to give clues if volume may be accelerating, etc.13:20
<jperl> yes...I have tried that....but not very successfully13:21

watching t&s gives me a headache
<RussellDaytrade> does minimizing the window and having on the perifery of your screen, so that it is visible and readable, without having to focus intently on it, and letting it just call attention to itself when it kicks into gear, etc?13:24
i am going to open another account to have access to it, think it will be a great tool for me.13:25
