#FuturesTrades September 1st Friday 2006 Trade Log

#FuturesTrades is a private and free realtime trading posting chat room on the IRC Othernet server that allows traders from all over the world to communicate.

Click here for the instructions on gaining access to #FuturesTrades.

In addition, trades being posted by members of #FuturesTrades in the below trade post chat log are by traders that do not have access to TheStrategyLab.com strategies except for NihabaAshi.

Fee-based clients of TheStrategyLab.com strategies use the private IRC rooms called #TheStrategyLab and #SwingTradingTSL.

Further, you'll find below the chat room time stamped text log of realtime trades (real money and simulator) that were posted by full-time, part-time traders from around the world and the timestamp is eastern standard time (est).

Also, below NihabaAshi's trading blog like comments, you can read the time stamped trades (prices, entries, exits et cetera) and market discussions that sometimes contains trading tips or insights that are more useful than what you will see at any other futures blog or chat room.

Trading Blog Below is not your traditional trader's blog in the usual blog format. However, you will find informative commentary on a few occasions as time permits and such will contain trading tips that should help your trading as I attempt to sum up my thoughts as I traversed from the first trade to the last trade that was posted in #FuturesTrades realtime trade posting chat room.

Stress and its impact on our Health

First of all, I've designated the month of September to not be using my trading plan (Swing Trading Report and Trading Manual) so that I can concentrate more on my intuition trading.

With that said...it's always a psychological trading advantage to start the month by being profitable on the first trading day of the month.

In fact, there was a good discussion today that took place soon after the 10am est key economic report releases.

We talked about how trading has impact on our bodies short term and long term.

These are realities of trading that most traders don't discuss and should discuss.

More importantly, we should put in the same amount of effort or surpasses our trading in staying mentally and physically fit especially if we want to do this for many years and to be able to retire someday as a trader.

There are some good trading books about the psychological aspects of trading...here are some recommended books on the topic that should help with improving your overall trading:

Exceptional Trading The Mind Game

Trading In The Zone: Maximizing Performance with Focus and Discipline

The Disciplined Trader: Developing Winning Attitudes

12 Habitudes of Highly Successful Traders

Trading In The Zone: Master The Market With Confidence, Discipline And A Winning Attitude

The Intuitive Trader: Developing Your Inner Trading Wisdom

Trading For A Living: Psychology, Trading Tactics and Money Management

Way Of The Warrior Trader: The Financial Risk-Taker' s Guide To Samurai Courage, Confidence and Discipline

Today's results (real money and simulator trading) shown above are that of NihabaAshi only. To see his total accumulated points for the month of September...click here. To see results for the months of 2006 and prior years...click here.

Commentary by M.A. Perry (a.k.a. NihabaAshi)

Note: Each month there are a few trading days that we consider to involve interconnecting key price action of different markets and such is represented by a particular type of price action from one of the key markets. You can view the charts and their clues that's associated with the key price action at our key market archives.

<pat255> it is a stressful buisness tho ...money on the line10:15
<asuni> one year ago i did something similar to u, niha
<les>  Covered 1/3 ER2 Short @ 719.8 --> + 0.7 «« paper »»
<asuni> measuring my pulse rate during trading, looking to stop trading when pulse rate over 110/min
<NihabaAshi> Agree.
<asuni> to condition myself to be calm10:16

but is hard, very hard
<NihabaAshi> Its one of the reason why I take so many "time outs" during the trading day to get away and do either personal stuff, spent time with the family or taking very long lunch naps.
<asuni> when 8.30 am is arriving, i can see that allmy body increases it metabolism10:17

heart rate , breath rate, and so on

i try it too, but charts are a kind of magnet for me...........
<NihabaAshi> I found out that I was more profitable trading less (no more than 4 hours per day) in comparison to trading all day along with my stress level being under control.10:18
<deepitm> I've taken up running. My pulse rate is low, blood pressure low. At least I'm now calm as I loose money ;)
<NihabaAshi> :)
<les>  Covered Remainder ER2 Short @ 720.4 --> + 0.1 «« paper »» 10:19
<asuni> now for example my pulse rate is 98/min............. :-(
and i'm flat...........10:20
<pat255> asuni are u wired?
<asuni> wired?
can't understand, sorry
<pat255> how do u measue ..just count?10:21
<asuni> now yes, i count my heart rate for 15 seconds and then x4
but last year i had an instrument to measure my pulse rate, with an alarm over 11010:22
<NihabaAshi> asuni...I was at 62/min before the open and just took it again out of curiosity...65/min.
<asuni> good
<NihabaAshi> Not sure what it was during the trade...usually its around 75 - 80/min when in a trade.
<asuni> could be interesting to know ur pulse rate just before and after the entry10:23
<pat255> ty
<asuni> would be wonderful
probably u are a calm person out of trading, niha10:25
not quick-tempered
<deepitm> I can see it now. Excel spreadsheets on pulse vs #contracts, or pulse vs market traded. Of course we would apply technical analysis and optimize it ;)10:26
<asuni> :-)10:27
<pat255> niha ..i had prob when u changed pw...just check your list my nick on the ezboard is vin15...diff than here ...ty10:50

Traders Accounting

As traders we must treat our trading like a business if we are to succeed as traders and as a business. Therefore, waiting till the last few weeks March to prepare for April's taxes is not good for your trading and could put extra stress on your trading during tax month or the months that follow if your one of those traders that filed an extension.. Therefore, its best to be on top of your taxes throughout the year and Traders Accounting is a great resource for such especially if you want to prevent penalties or an audit several years from now.

<pat255>  c u all later ...ty all14:44
<NihabaAshi> Hi Yo...14:54
I looked at your chart from yesterday...some of those expansion bars do not represent a WRB.
The body of the bar needs to be > each body of the prior three bodies14:55
At the minimum.
I use three while others use 5 or 7
Reminder: #FuturesTrades new password will be posted later tonight.14:56
<yo> thnx niha for your respons14:57

i think there is not a study in ts to plot this analyse15:02

do you now if elite trader has that study niha15:03
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)15:40
<NihabaAshi> [15:03] <yo> do you now if elite trader has that study niha16:02

I don't know of any computer code that picks up just WRB's.

However, their computation is simple and any computer code should be able to computer something that has a body > the bodies of the prior three intervals.16:03

Bodies defined as the price area between the Open and Close...

NOT as the price area beetween the High and Low.16:04

I myself many years ago had setup my easylanguage codes to audio alert and highlight WRB's.16:05

Easylanguage in reference to TradeStation.

I no longer use TradeStation but I still have the program...its no longer installed nor do I have updated versions.16:06

Mentally getting away from trading is much harder to do in comparison to physically getting away from trading when its time for some rest and relaxation. Personally, one of my favorite ways to mentally rest is to watch movies I've copy & recorded from the local video store via my Slysoft software that copies any copyright protected dvd's and cd's.

<yo> thnx niha i have i look at the ts forum maybe is find someting there16:09
what do you use now ensign?16:11
<codehead> the sum of the body length on those 3 previous bars, ya niha?
<NihabaAshi> No16:22
WRB Body > Body1, WRB Body > Body2 and WRB Body > Body316:23
Not any sum.
Lets pretend the current price area between Open and Close is 15 ticks.
<codehead> oic
<NihabaAshi> The prior interval body is 10 ticks...next prior is 12 ticks and before that is 6 ticks.16:24
15 > 10, 15 > 12 and 15 > 6.
That makes the 15 a WRB.
Had any of those prior numbers > 15.16:25
15 wouldn't qualify as a WRB.
<codehead> k

and you look for a WRB as indication of volatility, right?

as a setup for another trade trigger?16:26
<NihabaAshi> I use WRB to determine rising volatility and to determine shifts in supply and demand.
For declining volatility I'm looking at small bodies and shadows that are small or the bodies expand very slowly.16:27
<codehead> k
<NihabaAshi> WRB simply tells me to stop picking my noise and pay attention because something is about to happen.
:)
<codehead> hehe
<NihabaAshi> I then cross my fingers that one of my pattern signals appear or that I good a sudden good feel (intuition) for the market price direction.16:28
meant get a good indication of the feel (intution) for the market price direction.16:29
This year I've been "intentionally" doing more Intuition Trades because I'm testing my ability to "react" to price action in comparison to following a detailed specific trading plan.16:30
Then when my intution gets me into a deep hole (big losses)...I go back to my detailed trading plan to dig myself out of that hole.16:31
<codehead> whew, i hear that16:32

started an older stock trader friend of mine doing futs past couple of months

i've been warning him since day one about averaging down versus stepping out or reversing if it's going against him16:33

he keeps managing to bail himself out

but...

a couple days ago he was down $24k (!!) on Qm before getting out with $4-6k profit

whew16:34

(yikes)
<yo> thats not daytrading codehead16:35
<codehead> ya, daytrading

he held like 2 contracts overnight, then trded his way out of it16:36
<yo> thats swingtrading i think
<codehead> no, except that he started out a little down by buying QM at the close one day, two contracts16:37
<yo> k
<codehead> kept adding the next day as it went against him, then got a little bounce to get out
<yo> thnx all leave room open for the new code16:40
see you next week

Think Geek

I don't always trade nor monitor the market from my home office. Sometimes I'll do such from one of my favorite nearby Wi-Fi hotspot or whenever I'm traveling via using this little Wi-Fi detection gadget I got from Think Geek that will show more than just the presence of any nearby signal and its signal strength. It has a 12-character LCD that provides information on signal availability and strength as well as essential network information, including SSID, security status and channel. When multiple networks are present the LCD me to scroll through information for each network.
