<+DJ> | k |
<+Awash> | i'll try and log in daily but i may not be at my desk to reply quickly |
<+DJ> | Great | 12:09 |
<+ItalianSharp> | awash, will you be leaving trading? | 12:10 |
<+Awash> | NEVER |
| I WILL ALWAYS TRADE |
<+ItalianSharp> | what's happening in 2 weeks then? |

<+szubaark_away> | Shorts ES @ 1249.25 «« paper »» |
<+ItalianSharp> | have you been trading fulltime up to now? | 12:11 |
<+Awash> | nice short Szubaark, first sign of selling you dumped |
| i trade full-time but as a swing trader | 12:12 |
| swing positions over several days |
<+ItalianSharp> | ok...this allows you to have 2 jobs then |
<+Awash> | sometimes i play intraday swings, it all depends on price location in trend |
<+ItalianSharp> | i am just curious why someone successful in trading would go back to a normal job | 12:13 |
<+DJ> | great question....must love work |
<+Awash> | well, i don't plan to be at the regular job for more than two more years |
<+ItalianSharp> | what's the regular job like? what field if you dont mind? | 12:14 |
<+DJ> | Awash is rock star |
| getting tired of throngs of women |
<+Awash> | but honestly, with my style of trading, i don't need to be in front of a computer everyday all day |
<+DJ> | ;) |
<+Awash> | it's actually boring sitting here, i don't mean to down play trading but i'm bored as hell | 12:15 |
<+szubaark_away> | Covered all Short ES at 1248 --> + 1.25 «« paper »» |
<+Awash> | swing trading that is |
<+DJ> | you can break boredom by offering wisdom | 12:16 |
| unless that's boring as well |
| i apprec your input, Awash | 12:17 |
<+Awash> | no, i love to share information, i'm actually a teacher so it's second nature for me |
<+DJ> | AH HA! |
<+ItalianSharp> | what's the regular job like? what field if you dont mind? |
<+Awash> | teaching |
<+ItalianSharp> | you teach at school? |
<+Awash> | i'm a high school economics teacher |
<+ItalianSharp> | wow |
| really nice |
<+Awash> | it's fun, i even get to talk about trading in the economics club |
| it's awesome!!!!!!!! | 12:18 |
<+DJ> | that's great |
<+ItalianSharp> | you are going back for the passion to teach then, that's really honorable of you |
<+DJ> | Teachers ARE rock stars |
<+ItalianSharp> | they should double your salary IMO |
<+DJ> | at least my favorites were |
<+Awash> | thanks |
<+DJ> | well, your trading doubles it, right? |
<+Awash> | yep | 12:19 |
<+DJ> | i just contacted a teacher from 8th grade |
| she was thrilled to hear from me |
<+Awash> | about what? just for some random chatting |
<+DJ> | to thank her for the support |
| I had a broken family situation |
| she was fantastic |
<+Awash> | i'm glad she made a difference | 12:20 |
<+DJ> | found her on web |
| BIG diff |
<+Awash> | that's always rewarding for teachers |
| although, i didn't always want to be a teacher |
<+DJ> | I think she was very happy to hear from an old student |
<+Awash> | i found that profession because i was a losing trader out of college |
<+DJ> | well, trading can always be fulfilling |
<+Awash> | but i turned it all around with the help from others | 12:21 |
<+DJ> | well, you have gotten me on track |
| i have read a lot of the stuff you sent |
<+Awash> | glad to hear |
<+DJ> | TY! | 12:22 |
| scientist was great ref point and material |
| his tight stop read was fantastic | 12:23 |
| by the way, I have already employed that |
| in SIM mode |
| working well |

<+DJ> | saves me from huge swing losses |
| Thx again for that |
| if anyone else wants this I can provide the material in my saved emails | 12:24 |
<+Awash> | now,
that guy was a scalper so that's why his stops were tight, if you find
yourself getting stopped frequently, you can always adjust |
<+DJ> | YES |
| that makes sense |
| I am not confident to trade swings |
| I did some swing trading on equities | 12:25 |
| through options trades |
<+Awash> | did it work out? |
<+DJ> | sort of swinging mo to mo |
| Yes, it was fun and profitable |
| I am out of market for now as far as longs |
<+Awash> | swinging is less intensive than day trading |
<+DJ> | yes, but boring |
| at least to me | 12:26 |
<+Awash> | true but profitable if you can get it to work |
<+DJ> | i got good at covered calls |

<+Awash> | last week you called 1292 as an area to exit your long |
<+KN-SR> | yes | 15:42 |
<+Awash> | we came 3 ticks from it |
<+KN-SR> | yes |
| too bad |
| for me |
<+Awash> | you still held on to your long anticipating 1292 again that wednesday? |
<+KN-SR> | yes |
| i dont change my trade in the middle |
<+Awash> | can you briefly mention why 1292 was so significant for you? |
| i had that area as a key level too | 15:43 |
<+KN-SR> | lets start from ur side |
<+Awash> | sure |
<+KN-SR> | why do u think thats the key level? |
| b4 it reaching there? |
<+Awash> | 1292 was 38% retracement from may high to july low, exactly at 1292, plus it was the july high | 15:44 |
| 1292 was 38% retracement from may high to july low, exactly at 1292, plus it was the july high |
| that's an area where long-term traders will try to short the pullback |
| based on what i say, they sold that area immediately without hesitating and we dropped fast that afternoon | 15:45 |
| say = saw |
| now, why was it significant for you (1292)? | 15:46 |
<+KN-SR> | well i dont use fibs or any s/r level except vol | 15:47 |
| well, fist . |
| i do trade some long term trades | 15:48 |
| and often hedge them with aother account to secure my profits |
| so once i m in a trade for a long time.. its not much about where the price is heading or going to |
| its all about hedging in places |
| right now i have my 1205 tade secred till 1280 | 15:49 |
| is secured |
| so even if the price goes back to 1205 still i will have that 75 points |
| what often i do ..... to spot a level | 15:50 |
| is to look for vol |
* +DJ | is now away - Reason : Biz |
<+KN-SR> | i already told about the matrix window and vol in each price |
<Awash1> | my connect dropped |
<+Trader> | that matrix thing was not clear. Could you post something in the forum? | 15:51 |
<+KN-SR> | but what I do most often is to go back to my trades and find the levels i used to trade last time when price were at that level |
| for example. i can tell u all the levels between 1301 1400 |
| so 1292 was a level i had way too many short trades last time | 15:52 |
| my tading is as simple as it gets :).................... | 15:53 |
<+Awash1> | understood |
| one more question about your comments |
| you
mentioned you dont use s/r or fib levels to enter or exit your trading.
If you knew a greater number of participants focused on those levels,
will you even consider watching it as a potential point of a lot of
market action? |
<+KN-SR> | let me post some lines from A22 | 15:56 |
* Awash1 | is now known as Awash |
<+KN-SR> | [14:54:55]
<A22> , you could point to the overwhelming 15 minute ES volume
at 1205 | 15:57 |
| [14:55:05] <A22> very different from the previous days |
| [14:55:16] <A22> to show that the big money was getting involved |
| [14:55:29] <KN-SR> yes |
| [14:55:29] <A22> and the market had a high probability of turninng |
| ............
we are alwasy watching volume...... market activity........... if there
is lots of market activites, we may have a key level of /r | 15:58 |
| s/r | 15:59 |
<+Awash> | understood | 16:01 |
| here is one unique thing about trading |
| there
are thousands of traders, that trade thousands of different ways, take
thousands of setups, et cetera. There's no real right or wrong way to
trade, as long as you're making money then the way you trade is good
enough | 16:02 |
<+KN-SR> | i agree |
<+Awash> | good stuff on your hedging |
<+KN-SR> | yes only if its a long term trade, | 16:03 |
| in short term or day trading it may kill u |
| with commissions |
<+Awash> | i'm definitely going to have to look into some hedging strategies |
| as for the market today | 16:04 |
| you can see the aggressiveness in the bears in shorting this |
<+Trader> | 2 me hedging does not make sense. if you have a profit and take the oposit position why not just close the trade? |
<+Awash> | the ranges are wide over the past three sessions |
<+KN-SR> | thats what u do when u day trade |
| the trades i usually post here are from my day trading.........get in and out with profits | 16:05 |
<+Trader> | if i have a profit I close it. I am not going to open an opposing trade. It make no sense to me. |
<+KN-SR> | well, no one is right or wrong here...........its just the way we feel comfortable | 16:06 |
<+Awash> | plus,
trader, another way to look at it, we may not see 1205 again and it may
be possible to catch a larger move of the intermediate trend, without
closing your initial short |
<+KN-SR> | as long u and I both make money. we both are right |
<+Awash> | exactly, thousands of ways to trade |
| in the end, it's about what makes you profitable | 16:07 |
<+KN-SR> | i agree |
<+Trader> | i have no argument with a winning trader or system. |
<+KN-SR> | well, you may not find a suitable entry for a long term trade in next 20 days...... who knows |
| and again | 16:08 |
| hedging wont hurt u since u r just securing ur profit...... |
| one trade loses and the other one makes up the losses |
<+Trader> | mybe my Autistic background requires a more alaborate explanation of hedging :-) |
<+Awash> | exactly |
| :-) |
<+KN-SR> | :) |
| to me |
| ....... |
<+Trader> | as you know Autistic people are B & W................ | 16:09 |
<+KN-SR> | if i have a 50+ trade, i feel like anyting |
<+Trader> | very rule oriented |
<+KN-SR> | u cant rally explain it |
| really |
| and i dont care much abotu trades 10 or less........lots of work involved | 16:10 |
<+Trader> | I like the smaller trades. It is instant gratification |
<+KN-SR> | neitehr of us is wrong | 16:11 |
| :) |
<+Trader> | i didn't say that u r wrong KN |
<+KN-SR> | we are not |
| we all have our own way of trading |
| thats what make trading so dynamic |
<+Trader> | I think that the details of your strategy would probably - once explained - would make sense. | 16:12 |
| bad sentence composition but u got my point |
<+Awash> | good conversation for end of the day | 16:13 |
| i'm going to set some sell orders overnight |
<JimL> | KN,
thanks for the insight. When you get back, maybe you would be so kind
to post more screen shots of the matrix & volume setups. I've read
the forum posts several times & I don't see the volume setups in
the matrix. But as I see your posts during the day, you have an
excellant track of getting the trades & then protecting your delta
profits. I just can't figure out the matrix/volume setups that your
seeing. |
<+KN-SR> | well, i think I have explained how I trade 100+ times in last 7 months |
<+Trader> | KN your explanation of the TS MAtrix use would be appreciated |
<+KN-SR> | i will try :) | 16:14 |
| i m joining in september |
<+Trader> | KN
you remind me when I had to explain how to design electronic circuits
many times over and I never understood why I was not understood ..... |
<+KN-SR> | so new job may wont allow me as much time as i have time, well, i will try | 16:15 |
<+Trader> | for me it was like an instinct just like trading seems to be for you |
<+KN-SR> | may be, i agree | 16:16 |
| sometime i cannt even explain myself why i take a trade........just happens |
| :) |
<+Trader> | exactly |
<+KN-SR> | but I wont be trading much day trades from september |
<+Trader> | why? |
<+Awash> | sell limit to enter short ES @ 1242 | 16:17 |
| not sure if we'll get there overnight but i'll try |
| thanks for everything all, definitely learned something |
| 12good night |

| i think i explained everyting |
<+Trader> | KN I was not kidding about Autism. | 16:20 |
| let me give you an example |
| BTW do you know what is Autism? |
<+KN-SR> | :) | 16:21 |
<+Trader> | is that a yes? |
<+KN-SR> | I will try to explain one more time when i get back |
| but one thing i told again and again................ |
| we need lots of screening time.... | 16:22 |
<+Trader> | anyway,
one day my better half's son left the lights on as usual for teenagers
and I said "I am sick and tired of you leaving the lights on" to which
he replied " so why don't you take and Aspirin and go to bed" |
<+JimL> | That's
what I missing...I was looking through thestrategylab forums for the KN
descriptions. How do I get to chat logs for find the last 7 months???
I'll do the research & homework on KN's history if someone will
direct me. | 16:23 |
<+Trader> | for him it was the correct solution to my problem |
| JimL the logs to this chat room are in the system but only if you were logged into this room. |
| you cannot see logs if you were not here | 16:24 |
<+KN-SR> | i dont think so |
<+Trader> | I am here about 2 weeks only |
<+KN-SR> | if u go to www.thestrategylab.com |
<+Trader> | sorry KN is right |
