Trading volatility profitably requires trading instruments that are volatile.
The Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ and YM) have lost much of their volatility produced by 0830am est key economic reports and such has prompt me to trade CME EuroFX EC because its price action almost always reacts volatile to the key economic report releases.
Volatility is a critical aspect of having follow-through to profit targets. This thinking is counter to what most traders view about volatility because most traders in error associate volatility with whipsaw or choppy market conditions.
Further, volatility can be measured by WRB Analysis and when you understand what a WRB is you'll see that they occur infrequently during tight trading ranges, choppiness or whipsaws market conditions.
