#FuturesTrades March 23rd Friday 2007 Trade Log

#FuturesTrades is a private and free realtime trading posting chat room on the IRC Othernet server that allows traders from all over the world to communicate.

Click here for the instructions on gaining access to #FuturesTrades.

In addition, trades posted by members of #FuturesTrades in the below trade post chat log are by traders that do not have access to TheStrategyLab.com strategies except for NihabaAshi.

Fee-based clients of TheStrategyLab.com strategies use the private IRC rooms called #TheStrategyLab and #SwingTradingTSL.

Further, you'll find below the chat room time stamped text log of realtime trades (real money and simulator) that were posted by full-time, part-time traders from around the world and the timestamp is eastern standard time (est).

Also, below NihabaAshi's trading blog like comments, you can read the time stamped trades (prices, entries, exits et cetera) and market discussions that sometimes contains trading tips or insights that are more useful than what you will see at any other futures blog or chat room.

Trading Blog Below is not your traditional trader's blog in the usual blog format. However, you will find informative commentary on a few occasions as time permits and such will contain trading tips that should help your trading as I attempt to sum up my thoughts for the trading day.

Trading within the Big Picture

Profit/Loss Statement

The range bound price action on Thursday that followed the parabolic price action on Wednesday helped produced today's range bound price action from the view point of the 30min chart.

Further, whenever you do trend analysis, you should identify support/resistance levels or zones to help give you a bigger picture.

My definition of the bigger picture is a chart interval that allows you to see a minimum of several trading days.

The big picture can help with reducing overtrading, position size management, profit targets and with intermarket analysis.

Commentary by M.A. Perry (a.k.a. NihabaAshi)
intradaystrategies@yahoo.com

Note: Each month there are a few trading days that we consider to produce big price movement as the result of other key trading instruments in its own market or within other markets (intermarket analysis).

You can view the charts and a few clues that's associated with the key price action at our key market archives.

<RussellDaytrade>  Covered 2/3 ER2 Short @ 813.8 --> - 0.3 «« paper »»
<NihabaAshi>  Long ER2 @ 814.30 -> small size 10:26
Those Long shadows acting like support "will give" me problems in this trade :(
<jperl> ER2 took the bounce off yesterdays VWAP 813.25
<NihabaAshi> Need patience and may have to pick a good spot to ADD to my position within the support zone that's below my entry.10:27
<szubaark> Niha i wish u did more commenting of what u looking at so we can see what u looking at.10:28
<NihabaAshi> :(10:29
<Brutus> today I added to my winner 2 times, learning a few new tricks :)10:30
<NihabaAshi> szu...I'm doing more recently than I have been doing in past years...

<Brutus> Very hard to trade and type (and spell for me :) )
<NihabaAshi> If I get a second chance to dump this at 814.70
I will take it.
Long ER2 @ 813.80 -> Add 10:33
Exited 1/2 ER2 Long @ 814.30 --> + 0.5 10:37
Exited Remainder ER2 Long @ 814.90 --> + 0.6
<asuni> nice add niha
<NihabaAshi> Those Long shadows on ER2 1min chart gave me the proper location of where to ADD if needed.10:38
However, its a double edge sword because that same s/r zone is also a magnet.
<pat255> for the add u did niha?
<NihabaAshi> Simply, my initial entry sucked and should have been around 813.80 - 814.0010:39
pat255...yes, the ADD (where to do it) had those long shadows as the price zone for such.10:40
<pat255> ty niha ...will keep that in mind..
<NihabaAshi> Lets pretend I got a really good price like 813.60 for my initial entry...
I most likely would have still ADDED to the position in the s/r zone regardless if the position was at a loss or profit.10:41
<pat255> c what u mean ..whole bunch of shadows in that area ..10:42

good point ...will keep that in mind ..

1 min chart shows well..
<jperl> Not much maneuvering room this morning for trading.....10:52
here are the trades....
http://charts.dacharts.com/2007-03-23/JP ERL_016.png

the paper trade that is11:08
<RussellDaytrade> why 1330?
<Brutus> I think it is a pivot time today, no maths to it just a guess on prior action11:09
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)11:11
<RussellDaytrade> ok, i thought you might still be using the calls from a guy some months ago that had specific times he used as expected turning points. he still around? you recall his name on ET?
<Brutus> my2cents doesnt post much. No dont get his pivot sheet :(11:12
Still certain things repeat, thats how I called the spike today11:13
<RussellDaytrade> good selling spike11:14
<Brutus> Buying was easier plenty more time and less risk11:15
Dax new highs lifting the market, but NQ lagging11:19

<wizardofrijnsaterwou> have a nice weekend everybody11:33
<Brutus>  Covered ES Short @ 1450 --> - 1.5 «« paper »» 12:06
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)12:23
<NihabaAshi>  Long ER2 @ 814.80 -> small size 12:55

This could be my last trade of the day mainly due to the fact I'm extremely bored (too slow of price action).

Also, I didn't get much sleep last night due to the 4 month old being sleepless between 12midnight - 3am est :(12:57

Thus, I need a long nap :)

If the Ask can hit 815.20...I'll dump my position.12:59
<WannaBeBOS> niha, i didnt know you had another baby
congrats
<NihabaAshi> Yep...we have two now and one particular reason why I'm more aggressive in my trading the past 6 months...expanding family requires more income :)13:00
<WannaBeBOS> yes indeed13:01

Traders Accounting

As traders we must treat our trading like a business if we are to succeed as traders and as a business. Therefore, waiting till the last few weeks March to prepare for April's taxes is not good for your trading and could put extra stress on your trading during tax month or the months that follow if your one of those traders that filed an extension.. Therefore, its best to be on top of your taxes throughout the year and Traders Accounting is a great resource for such especially if you want to prevent penalties or an audit several years from now.

<NihabaAshi> I'm slowly losing my support for the trade :(13:10

Missed ADDing at 814.2013:11

Exited ER2 Long @ 813.90 --> - 0.9 13:14

Reverse and Enter Short ER2 @ 813.90

Covered all ER2 Short @ 813.70 --> + 0.2 13:16

That volatility woke me up.13:18

Long ER2 @ 813.70 -> small size 13:19

Adding an extra contract

I have good support for this Long but ER2 not co-operating :(13:25

Exited 2/3 ER2 Long @ 814.20 --> + 0.5 13:27

Lost my patience...no longer worth the stress.13:30

Exited Remainder ER2 Long @ 813.80 --> + 0.1
<jperl> 1 Standard Deviation of the price action from the VWAP is only 5 ticks.....13:31
not much room to work with
<NihabaAshi> Looks like the ADD in my first trade of the day is where my profits occurred...13:32

Take care all...I'm done for the trading day...13:33

Have a good and safe weekend.
