#FuturesTrades February 15th Thursday 2007 Trade Log

#FuturesTrades is a private and free realtime trading posting chat room on the IRC Othernet server that allows traders from all over the world to communicate.

Click here for the instructions on gaining access to #FuturesTrades.

In addition, trades posted by members of #FuturesTrades in the below trade post chat log are by traders that do not have access to TheStrategyLab.com strategies except for NihabaAshi.

Fee-based clients of TheStrategyLab.com strategies use the private IRC rooms called #TheStrategyLab and #SwingTradingTSL.

Further, you'll find below the chat room time stamped text log of realtime trades (real money and simulator) that were posted by full-time, part-time traders from around the world and the timestamp is eastern standard time (est).

Also, below NihabaAshi's trading blog like comments, you can read the time stamped trades (prices, entries, exits et cetera) and market discussions that sometimes contains trading tips or insights that are more useful than what you will see at any other futures blog or chat room.

Trading Blog Below is not your traditional trader's blog in the usual blog format. However, you will find informative commentary on a few occasions as time permits and such will contain trading tips that should help your trading as I attempt to sum up my thoughts for the trading day.

Note: Each month there are a few trading days that we consider to involve interconnecting key price action of different markets and such is represented by a particular type of price action from one of the key markets. You can view the charts and their clues that's associated with the key price action at our key market archives.

<NihabaAshi> I'm going to miss the Open due to a HUGE snow storm last night that dumped about 3 feet of snow (I live close to the mountain ranges).09:12

Gotta about an hour of work before I can even use the snow blower.

Thus, I'll be back later and hopefully I can get in one trade before lunch.09:13

<RussellDaytrade> ok, i do not usually look at that DOM feature. for a moment there were other bids of 1000, 2 of them, in addition to the 750 one10:06
<PapaJon> hmm.. dint see the 1000.. you may be looking at the total of bids. not an actual bid number

my dom totals the bids and ask on the 6th line (abv/below)10:07
<AmazingJason>  Shorts ER2 @ 815.60
<PapaJon> RD.. what dom are you using?
<RussellDaytrade> the one on IB10:08
<szubaark>  Exited all Long NQ at 1827.25 --> 0 «« paper »»
<PapaJon> ok.. dint know ib had one.. i am on ninja
that size of bid or ask is very uncharateristic of er2.. at least until now10:09

PJ, you use the DOM regularly?
<PapaJon> i trade from it10:14
<RussellDaytrade> looks like a good tool and you got a read on it10:15
<PapaJon> it is a great trading tool.. imho10:16

very versatile

http://www.veritashomeinspection.com/pj1 .jpg10:21
<szubaark> is Bush speaking now?
<PapaJon> RD.. notice that the bid/ask... each has six

the exhanges only post 5

the sixth is a total of the 510:22

that may be what you saw (re: the 1000)
<AmazingJason>  Shorts ER2 @ 814.90 10:25
<PapaJon> szu.. i dont see bush anywhere10:26
<szubaark> i see Headline on yahoo.com10:27
<PapaJon> hmmf.. dont see him on any channels yet
<RussellDaytrade> as i recall PJ, they were distinct bids, not totals. there were 2 of them, when the price dipped into 814 fro the last time, they were below the 750 bid, and in addition to it. price moved up from there quickly, and they didn't trail up with price, like the 750 bid, so, it was only visible for a total of a few seconds, it seems, i just happened to be looking at it when it occured.
<PapaJon> he had lengthy news conference yesterday szu10:28

hmmf.. intersting rd

will keep eye on that10:29

one of my other eyes

hehe
<RussellDaytrade> i gotta a strong desire to sell today, but disciple dictakes selling on scales up.
<AmazingJason>  Covered all ER2 Short @ 815.50 --> - 0.6 10:30
<RussellDaytrade> if those size bids were indeed abberations, they had the desired effect, (assuming that the desired effect was to lift prices, and not actually buy)
Shorts ER2 @ 816 -> Add «« paper »» 10:31
gues thats as good a place as any
<AmazingJason>  Shorts ER2 @ 816 10:32
<RussellDaytrade> PJ, do you think that larger size on the DOM may be an early morning profile?10:33
<PapaJon> how do you mean?

an early sign of things to come?10:34
<RussellDaytrade> at / near the open, when there is typically bigger volume, that the typical size on the DOM may be larger then in ohter times of the trasding day. that did seem like outsized and untypical size, as you noted...10:35
i was mostly wondering if that type of activity shows up most mornings, or whether it was really unusual this morning?10:36
<PapaJon> you are right about the volume on the dom.. however... that was not normal at all
<AmazingJason>  Covered all ER2 Short @ 815.80 --> + 0.2
<PapaJon> but.. in days/weeks/months to come.. it may become normal... who knows10:37
<X>  #FuturesTrades Info -> Chat room for realtime trade posting by traders of Emini Futures (ER2, ES, NQ, YM), EuroFX Futures (EC), Eurex Derivatives (DAX, ESTX50), Euronext Futures (FTSE100, CAC40), Treasury Futures (ZF, ZN, ZB), NYMEX Futures (CL, NG, HO, QM) and Exchange Traded Funds (DIA, GLD, IWM, OIH, QQQQ, SPY)
<szubaark>  Buys NQ @ 1827 «« paper »»
<AmazingJason>  Long ER2 @ 815.70 10:39
<RussellDaytrade> good eye, somebody indeed wanted to hold the market there, and even if temporary, still works for a trade! and who knows, maybe the price realy extends, etc. worth taking a trade from it.
<PapaJon> well... you could read it that way.. but you could also read it as someone wanting a bunch of traders to go long.. so they can pull the rug out from under them... triggering stops10:41
couple years back there was a big who-do bout a flasher on es10:42
my point... i would not necessarilly rely on what you see on the dom
lots of tricksters out there
<RussellDaytrade> barney ripping bernie
<PapaJon> other thing that seemed odd to me.. was that that size... i think is larger than is allowed on one account... but i may be mistaken10:44
i forget the actuall limit of qty... 400 or 450 i was thinkin.. but not sure

<RussellDaytrade> i would like to hold a short position for longer, but every time i am in the money, the tempotation to close and ring register is an automatic impulse. anyone have a suggestion? log off of FT, and then come back when its 5-7 in the money?12:23
good trading EM
<eminitrader> thx RD ..was hoping for new highs ...but not bad
<RussellDaytrade> or perhaps at least 3-4 points.12:24
<NihabaAshi> That's what I'm trying to do...keep my original contracts because I think it can retest the intraday lows.

Volatility now dropping at the level for a volatility spike.12:25

Preparing to cover at a WRB target or reverse my remaining Short into a Long position.12:26
<RussellDaytrade> i am allowing it may go higher, so keeping size small, and trading around, etc, but i have an inclination to hold a short, even if longer term, perhaps more than a day, on the desire and prospect for a little larger gain.

Traders Accounting

As traders we must treat our trading like a business if we are to succeed as traders and as a business. Therefore, waiting till the last few weeks March to prepare for April's taxes is not good for your trading and could put extra stress on your trading during tax month or the months that follow if your one of those traders that filed an extension.. Therefore, its best to be on top of your taxes throughout the year and Traders Accounting is a great resource for such especially if you want to prevent penalties or an audit several years from now.

<RussellDaytrade> i gotta find a new level of patience, that may require an O/N hold. hey, i like ringing the register often too. mismanaged my rtrades today, from teh standpoint of curtailing my adds at higher levels. did so to reduce risk ex, in case of higher thrust. figured lower contract size would allow me more breathing room for longer holds, etc. ah, f, i missed the godsend(s) today, both going and coming..15:25
